It's a funny thing that no one has made a good argument for Floyd's fight selection at 140, yet I got owned? You guys continue to bring up 135 and 130...I'm not referring to those weight classes!! Why can't anyone defend Mayflower at 140? It's hard to, isn't it?
he ducked frietas to fight castillo??...that makes sense??..you keep bringing up chop chop...who did pbf duck to fight corley??
its simple...you cant get on pbf for not doing it and no one else has...yea hatton beat the champ but thats all..name another fighter at 140 while pbf was there that fought the best or cleaned out the division
Oh I made a perfectly reasonable argument....you then moved onto something entirely different. Gatti was rated the 2nd best JWW. The top one would not fight Mayweather, turning him down 2 times. The fighters he fought there were title eliminators to get Gatti's title. Simple as that....
Cotto HAD to fight unbeaten prospects. Mayweather cannot fight prospects...he has to fight CHAMPIONS. Comes with the territory. Mayweather can't fight Berto right now. He would be massacred for it. Not a single fighter you listed has a stylistic advantage over Mayweather except Williams, and even that's not style, it's physical attributes. He has fought fighters like Cotto, like Clottey, and like Mosley. You just picked fighters you think can beat him, and called them stylistic match up problems. You seemed to have read "stylistic advantage" somewhere, and figured you would use it.
It was the WBC title (the same one Mayweather always targets) and Gatti was the next highest rated champion at the time he entered the division. Cotto didn't even have a title when Mayweather made his debut, and fought the title elminator against Corley. Corley BTW, held the same title that Cotto won (vacant I might add) only a year before. So what is your issue with him?
tsyzu and hatton fought at 140 their whole careers..and cotto was there for most of his..so they should have fought better opponents at that weight since they fought there alotatsch :-(
