Just browsing through some topics and there is so much hate between fans of certain boxers? Why? People should respect all Boxers, and the sport, people may have favourites, but looking through i dont see alot of opinions and constructive debates, just plain hating. Why is this?

Good post...all boxers deserve respect - they are the one's in the ring. Fans in all sport disrespect certain athletes. Baseball, basketball, football, and hockey fans dislike certain teams and certain athletes of those sports, and boxing is no exception.

yeah its funny like that - alot of the time it seems like people might hate a certain boxer because they are more of a fan of the opposition. I real terms, i am a big Kessler fan, and yes i often talk smack about Calzaghe. I only do this because i like Kessler more and want to show my support by downplaying Calzaghe. Truth is, i respect them both equally as fighters

People express radical ideas and proposterous suggestions in attempts to bait others into uncharacteristic irrational responses just to see if they can do it....it's like an accomplishment for them....they extract some kind of diseased enjoyment from it. Basically they spend too much time on computers. Just my observation.

What makes me dislike any fighter is any form of excessive "ridiculousness".

This goes for bad hype jobs like Khan and Margarito, I can't stand those two.

The hate for Mayweather is really pathetic. Im no Mayweather fan but the names that he is called by some people is troubling. Irrational hatred.

It's funny that you mention that. I was checking out another boxing forum one time, and everyone was all polite and courteous like you were saying....and it sucked....I was laughing. Things do get pretty extreme here sometimes, but it's better than some wierded-out scene where everyone is scared to hurt each other's feelings.

Yes, but there is some pathetic threads, that are just obsurd, like the previous guy said it's just to get a reaction, i agree a good heated debate is great but some of the stuff i have read on here is so stupid, we are all boxing fans, we need to show some more respect.

Are you new to the internet?

This has been going on since the beginning. Posters always do this unless controlled by "mods". Fortunately this forum has mods like Reggie Hammond.

I wasn't suggesting that calling people names and insulting people's heritage is one of the strong points that sets ESB apart from other boxing forums. I was suggesting that ESB's tolerance and willingness to allow free debate is what sets it apart....that's the difference between moderation and censorship.

Now ESPN is censoring the coversations in corners between rounds in an effort to protect viewers from hearing spicy language.

    I can see it now....

Corner - "Come on dear fellow, you've let the previous stanza slip from your grasp....you must perservere".

Fighter - "But I'm giving it a jolly go, and the other chap has this nasty habit of striking me in the private parts....perhaps the referee needs spectacles".
