There is no LACK of quality that's why. How are you an actual fan of boxing if you need someone to retire to give them credit? What oddball logic is that?

Anyway I'm not sure what you follow because believe me not many on here think it's a stacked HW era ...I HAVE my own thread to prove that because fans haven't changed, like you it's the same old , same old of he current era is always terrible..yara yada yada....and MOST of them weren't even watching boxing in the 90's but think that era received some great accolades...If they were around they would know it wasn't liked much at all ...

As stated fans are idiots..you are proving that with this thread to ask why these fighters deserve credit when you probably don't even know its a far bigger competitive global sport now ! We know this bc you said it's the worse you've seen so your questioning others about giving fighters credit but are complaining about not giving credit to past fighters....don't you realize your contradictory bc you're doing the same thing ?????????

It generally has a rather level playing field, with no real dominant force. That being said, they have a long way to go to even begin to come close to Wlads dominance.

No, Corrie Sanders was a semi tall, heavy, fast and powerful HW, and he dropped Vitali. But he lacked stamina and size. Vitali had a bit better chin than Wlad at best. Also Vitali´s low guard lean back style would not work against a big and skilled SHW with an ATG jab like Wlad. Especially when you take his eyebrow-bone and facial skin into account...

Might have something to do with just how entertaining the fights have been:

    AJ vs Wlad
Whyte vs Chisora 1 and 2
    Whyte vs Parker
    Chisora vs Takam
    AJ vs Povetkin
    Ortiz vs Wilder
    Martin vs Kownkacki
    Brezeale vs Ugonoh
    Price vs Povetkin

    All very entertaining fights.

Lol! Nobody with half a brain thinks Corrie Sanders DROPPED Vitali with that push/trip down. Nice try on the attempt to rewrite history there sport.

And Corrie Sanders was a tall HW at 6’4” with an excellent reach. Nothing semi about it. He also was arguably the most devastating southpaw puncher in the history of the sport. His hands were faster than Joshua’s and Fury’s. So the fact he rocked (Not dropped) Vitali doesn’t put ANY kind of shame on Vitali’s chin. And Vitali had a ****ing granite chin not just

I am gonna cop a huge amount of flak for this but most know it's true. When the Klits dominated, the american media made it a goal of theirs (much like they do against their current president) to denigrate them at every opportunity. Most notable agenda's of theirs to push was ' the division is weak' and 'all the good american heavyweights are in the NFL'. Also Wlad and Vitali didn't exist, it was one entity named 'The Klitschkos'. Vitali was constantly coupled with his brother, when the 'boring fighting style' was mentioned even though Vitali was a true warrior, fighting man. Whatever view is being pushed by the US always becomes THE view. The Klitschos weren't American, they didn't often fight in America, they came from the former Soviet Union, to make it worse! They also had the wrong skin tone, their skin tone would have been an advantage though, if they were Irish/American or Italian/Amdrican and fighting out of the NY area!

Also worth remembering that the nineties 'Golden era' (ARF) was also a time when steroid abuse was rife in boxing. Just take a look at Holyfield before and after photos for an idea of how blatant PED use was at that time. Of course PEDS are still a problem today, but back then was certainly no golden age.

I think it's largely still quite poor in terms of having a number of truly world class fighters but it's certainly competitive across the top 10/15 for the most part, which is cool.

Skillwise chris byrd was actually much , much better than Fury. Byrd was skilled , unlike Fury who thinks he is skilled. Byrd would have outboxed wilder and prob not get knocked down twice.

People say this kind of thing about everything. Truth is time is a filter. I know it's not heavy weight boxing but in years to come, BJS will be remembered for his fights with Lemissed not Akavov. It's not like we're going to be talking about David Price vs Christian Hammer in years to come, we'll be talking about Whyte Chisora, AJ Klitcho, Wilder Fury etc with fights to materialise still. The division is competitive, there's plenty of 50/50 fights to come which real boxing fans know is all you can ask for. A low skilled card can be the best you'll see as long as the fights are good match ups. One of the best fights I can remember from 2018 was Zak Chelli vs Umar Sadiq and both those guys were only prospects. Same goes for Daryl Williams vs Jeremiah Smyles a couple of years ago. Not saying these guys aren't skilled but there not the best boxers to ever walk the earth either.

You know why. The hw division is now a level mediocrity. And it’s fans, mostly Brittards, are a level mediocrity who can’t tell the difference.
