There's a PPV scheduled every year at this time for the Mexican Independence Day weekend. Last year was the first in a while when there wasn't one. Though originally there was a PPV scheduled headlined by Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Jorge Barrios with Rocky Juarez vs. Robert Guererro in the co-feature, that fell through after Barrios couldn't get cleared to fight due to detached retinas. In 2006, it was Barrera vs. Juarez II, Vasquez vs. Gonzalez, and Guzman-Barrios. In 2005, it was Barrera vs. Peden, Mosley vs. Cruz, and Jesus Chavez vs. Leavander Johnson.

Well... let me put it this way: the Mexican Independence weekend was always a good PPV seller thx to Oscar De La Hoya. So HBO would go on with a PPV with our without Casa-JMM anyway. So the question is: what is the best possible fight/card for the usual mid-September PPV?

JMM vs. Casa is not bad. The undercard is. Why not co-promote with Don King, put Campbell-Guzman on the same show and the winners can fight each other in 2009?

Casamayor vs. JMM is a big fight and a good fight. Don't expect Vazquez vs. Marquez, but two real masters will put on a boxing masterclass. But that combined with Mora vs. Forrest II and Ortiz, Garcia vs. mediocre opposition worth no more than $25 IMO...

But as I've said, it's a mandatory PPV. And definitely better than something like MAB vs. Fana... Still, you should watch Showtime... it's free and better...
