even the tyson-lewis and hoya-trinidad, tune-up fights are still rampant among top 10 p4p fighters. you never see pacquiao, marquez, hopkins, mosley, darchinyan, calderon, dawson in a tune-up fight
"Seems" like since ODH "lost" his tune up with Sturm, just about throwing away the B-Hop fight, they've been much farther and fewer between. For the record, I've seen recent interview(s) where Oscar freely admits now he thinks he lost that fight too.
Maybe too, the Zab-Baldo fight, where PBF and Zab fought a PPV anyways, and folks still ***** about it sometimes. My opinion, it would have been criminal to NOT get to see Zab vs. PBF.
:yep After some thought, it did seem like this was probably the response he's been after to start with.
Well it's hard to take a tune up when you'll immediately be called a cherry picker and all of a sudden your resume is built up on "tomato cans". Fans are often too hard on the fighters and practically won't allow them to have a tune up fight without lashing out and making fun of it as if tough fights don't take a toll on fighters.
really? David Diaz looked like a tune up to me and don't start with the where he was ranked on the Ring's top 10 at Lightweight while tough, you could make a pretty good argument that D. Diaz was the weakest of the belt holders and to think, Manny got a tune up while moving up in weight. I can't completely discredit tune up's as they most often are used to set up bigger fights
it's not tune-up. It's legacy defining. Never before where a former 112 champ had success past 126 and fight a legit top 10 135 pounder in his lightweight debut. it's like jones fighting ruiz. there is no tune-up there
those are the 2 most difficult tune ups in history if you look at them as tune ups. i'd call them mega fights on their own.
