A lot of the Russian athlete were using it back then. It was allowed, just like a lot of other stuffs are allowed. It's like the Russian to have the power, and to know that the USA athlete it's taking creatine(this is just for example, as creatine is well known around the people(yeah and obviously it's not a PED), and to decide to ban it, and put it on the PED list. :D
Sharapova and plenty of other Russian athlete get banned for something they took long before it was in the banned list, which happen recently(in that time).
As far as for what reason they have taken it i have no f**** idea. I think it was banned 2016, not sure which month exactly. Also Povetkin was cleared almost straight away. It was just the WBC that removed him from their ranking.
And it wasn't a clearing, bringing legal stuffs, and trying to counter sue the doping-agency. He literally proof his innocent.
It was a clear set up so Wilder can duck him, as Povetkin was at his absolutely best at that time.
Povetkin also won the purse bid, and Wilder had to fight him in Russia, and we all know how that went.

You got to ask them. A lot of Russian athlete were taking meldonium. Prolly everyone have their version, which is not the point. The point is it was not banned. It is medicament, that cure certain stuffs, and prevent certain stuffs, and help with certain stuffs.
it was something you could just go buy to the pharmacy outside and buy one, like aspirin, etc, etc.

Now if you ask me? Why did they took it? Where it's come for the athletes it's obviously for helping their performance. But the point is, it wasn't banned until the 2016, which was banned in order to hit the Russian athletes.
Not that suddenly it become a dangerous PED.

There is hundreds of pharmacy stuffs that are not banned, but literally enhance the athletes performances. It's literally who is in control that label some stuffs and decide to ban them.

Still Povetkin sample results were way below the allowed quantity. I don't remember anymore, but just for a plain example, if something is above 1g.(again for example) is not allowed, and below 1g. is allowed, and Povetkin sample was way below the limit.
And Povetkin was cleared. And have in mind he was cleared, not because of legal stuffs, aka Suing the agency, and so on, like Whyte, Fury, Connor Benn and other have try to do.
He literally cleared himself with tests and sample, as it was all to covering Wilder ducking ,let's be real here.

    This is official from Wada:
Povetkin’s positive test was for trace amounts of meldonium, and he had submitted to three tests before that one, which all came back negative. With meldonium added to the prohibited substances list effective January 1 of this year (and announced it would be last September), WADA has ruled that certain minor levels in the system for tests between January 1 and October 1 of this year will be allowed, and Povetkin’s positive test falls in that range. As of October 1, any amount of meldonium is strictly forbidden under these rules.

Both are dirty drug cheats and should have an asterisk in their career.

Meldonium is just like all the other substances used by athletes to get an edge, the authorities sometimes don’t know about it/ have not got testing for it then then they are able to test for it in testing and find it and then they ban it from use. In Povetkin’s case it was trace elements which were found iirc which where then put down to his use of it before the substance was put on the banned list by WADA,I’m sure Meldonium had been very popular among the pro Tennis athletes.

Eh that's partly on GGG too. Guy was begging for big name fights and demanded Canelo come to 160 after winning the belt at 155. And GGG offered Rosado 158 a few fights back...and didnt WBC demand Canelo negotiate the fight 15 days after beating Cotto? Literally never seen that before or since. Whole thing was odd.

GGG has plenty of chances to fight marquee names but, as famously said, anyone from 154-168...at 160...with his selection of judges and his choice of gloves.

And I had GGG winning Canelo 1 but he was a bit of a prima donna

I actually think that Fury is more hated on here than Canelo.

Why is it ignored? Because he played a blinder with his PR and mental health ambassador rebranding. All the Nandrolone and Cocaine use and the misogynistic and homophobic Old Testament rants were forgotten plus he obviously gave his entire purse to the homeless that time… genius

People are hypocrites and boxing community is garbage most of the time, simple as that.

If the fighter they don't like gets caught - he's a cheating POS, should be banned and his career should have an asterisk to it.

If the fighter they do like gets caught - he definitely didn't do it, he must have taken the substance not knowingly or it's a big conspiracy cause such and such never been caught but looks like he is on gear.

Look at the recent Ryan Garcia situation. All of these idiots defending him saying it's an Illuminati/Haney conspiracy to take away his victory. Evander Holyfield is slandered by Tyson fanboys even tho he never tested positive just because he beat up their guy like he stole something. In case of Fury we got AJ - yeah Fury got caught, but AJ must definitely be on something, but he's protected by mighty Eddie Hearn.

you had me till you brought in poor Mr. Evan Fields who oddly enough happens to have the same address and phone number as Evander Holyfield. Face it the dude was a huge steroid cheat and used drugs that they could not trace at the time Maybe you should research it a little bit.

Well, the fact is, he never tested positive. We can have suspicions regarding anyone of these athletes, but until they are caught, they should be considered clean. Otherwise we're going into the serious rabbit hole.

Now the ridicule is constant, because of chisora trilogy, pulling out of every fight, ducking AJ, trying to duck Usyk, retiring etc etc and Ngannou, but he posted the OP in 2022....
