He had fewer than 30 amateur fights. Just winning the Bronze showed the elite potential.

 

Just to answer your question why has Price not fought Fury. The simple answer is MONEY. If as is expected both become champs then that is where and when the big money will be, I am sure Fury and Price would love to fight each other but their promoters would not.
