I have seen 3!!!! separate articles that quote Wilder saying things along the lines of

"My management didn't want me to take this fight, I am doing this anyway"
"I am not going to take Gavern lightly, he is a serious opponent"
"I am putting myself in danger for the fans"

He is fighting a guy with I think 16 loses, 7 of them by knockout, that lost KO1 to Mansour, that has 7 knockout losses, is shot to **** and has a 24% knockout ratio. Plus he is 37, only 6'2 and isn't exactly what you would call a conditioning god. Does he really think his fans are such colossal morons that they would buy this?

Because Gavern, like Ding, is a steady journeyman that has fought the who's who of the Heavyweight division. And both men (Ding & Gavern) have been known to pull the occassional upset. Many felt that Gavern decisioned Travis Walker back when Walker was an up-and-coming boxer, yet the best he could manage was a Draw in the fight.

What did you expect him to say?

"I'm fighting the #103rd rated Heavyweight in my 32nd professional fight."

"I want to make a few easy bucks before fighting for a Heavyweight title shot I don't deserve."

"I fight whomever and wherever Al Haymon wants me to."

When will people get the clue that these guys could care jack about the "fans". If he's fighting Gavern, he knows it's minimal risk and gets him another paycheck.

Ding is an extremely sturdy boxer that won 21 out of his 25 successful battles by knockout, 84% knockout ratio.

Gavern has a 24% knockout ratio, and his ability to take a punch isn't anywhere near Ding's

He could have said "hey, this is a stay busy fight so I don't get rusty". He could pull a Thurman and start offering fights to top opposition, and then say he got the best he could. But instead he is glorifying an aged shot opponent that is given a week to prepare.

I know it would never happen, but it would be hilarious hearing those kind of quotes from a boxer.

    The thinks there's 3 reasons

    1. Wilder is thick as pig**** and actually doesn't have a clue about who anyone his fights are and actually believes his management when they tell him stuff. His management team just waiting to cash out

    2. Wilder know these opponents are terrible and a joke but obviously can't say because it will make everyone involved look like idiots. Him and his team are just waiting to cash out

    3. Wilder and his team are both as thick as pig**** and actually believe that this is an incredibly important. They all spend there spare time licking windows and have no concept of reality.in There minds wilder winning a fight means they all get Pokemon cards. Al haymon is waiting to cash out

That's how you promote a fight. Even an ordinary looking one. You need to get people talking about the fight, and you have taken the bait and started a thread about it. Meaning more people talk about the fight and that further promotes it.

And it was an elbow. Accidental, but still a cut caused by a foul.

And Ding had low blood sugar during that fight. He's since gotten it under control.:good
