hes as good as his opponents are bad. chagev being one of the best hes fought, he completely shut out....but who the hell has chagaev fought and beat impressively? chagev has been a pro for 12 years....and the biggest names on his resume prior to wlad are john ruiz and valeuv. yippie. not sure why this guy (chagaev) is held in such high regard. wlad is very very good. always in shape. his opponents are pretty bad....like high school kids playing pros in the same sport
Anyone has a chance to knockout Wlad. The man's been down more times than the dow jones this past year.
he was very big, heavy handed with a pole-like jab and a defensive footwork, his right hand is a steel-hammer and he boxes very well, he could be a nightmare for any heavyweight
Everyone always says that if you were to put wlad in the 70's or 80's he would get handled, but was there anyone with his size and skills in those era's to really compare him to.
He was Starched by an out of shape 38 yr old golfer, as well as Journeyman Brewster and he lost to a Clubfighter when he was a prospect. Wlad has also panic'd against guys like Peter and TOS. All those guys really aren't ****.
I agree that he got his ass knocked on by Sanders, but the Purity and Brewster fights he went down out of exhaustion. I don't think that the Klitschko of today would have lost any of those fights.
This has been what I been trying to tell everyone for the past 5 years, yet some seem to deny it. Guys like Sanders and Peter wrote the blueprint on how to beat Wlad. Pressure, pressure, and more pressure. Anytime he got touched by Peter his ass was in panic mode, Brewster rocked him with a jab in there first fight and made him panic a little. Not to mention what Sanders did to him, Wlad made the canvas look like a trampoline that night. Wlads hard to hit, but once you hit him sparks tend to fly. His chin is still as weak as it was when Peter tapped it. It just has been collecting dust, and it's only a matter of time before someone shatters it again.
I will tell you this. The way Chris fought Vitali, reminded me a little of Peter/Wlad without Vitali having several panic attacks, and falling all over the place. I'm not going to say Chris would of beat Wlad, but I do think Wlad would of been in his toughest fight since Peter back in 05.
If Arreola got off his lazy ass, he probably could which shows you that Wlad really isn't that good, I don't think he has been in with a puncher since Peter Unless you wanna count a fat and shot Rahman.
Competition. Here's Jan 06 Rankings: Champ Vacant 1 - Byrd 2 - Rahman 3 - Toney 4 - Brewster 5 - Ruiz 6 - Barret 7 - Brock 8 - Wlad 9 - Peter 10 - Valuev Today Champ Wlad 1 - Vitali 2 - Povetkin 3 - Chambers 4 - Chagaev 5 - Haye 6 - Arreola 7 - Boystov 8 - Valuev 9 - Dimitrenko 10 - Thompson It was average - good 3 years ago and is still today.
I say Cris by KO. Wlads chin is garbage and eventhough Cris got outclassed by Vitali, BUT like you said Wlad won't handle the pressure the same and Cris will start landing the shots that matter.
