you say the 80s sucked yet every boxer you mentioned, in their prime, would dominate today and beat wlad . . .LMFAO. Give it a rest guys the Kbros are just a couple of above average fights that are blessed with size, SO that makes them very good fighters that are able to beat the Bums that roam the ranks today.

Yep, they were. Why do you think they're all making comebacks? Or in McCalls case, still hanging around?

Because 10/15 years past their best, they're still competitive with todays fighters.

Botha, not so much, but Bruno, Ruddock (at times) Mercer, would run through a lot of fighters from today.

FFS, Shannon Briggs came back and got a belt, weighing what, 40 pounds more than when he was half decent, and throwing a punch a round?

And Briggs was only really a contender level fighter when he was at his best.

Maskaev is a perfect example. couldn't get near a belt at his prime. A few years later? Picks one up when wall past his best.

Foreman at 40 odd was so impressive because it was a rarity, that an old guy could come back and beat top fighters (and even then, he was brilliantly managed away from certain fighters) - now, it's becoming common place. Doesn't that tell you something?

I didn't even read the other posts, but I can tell you why. He adopted the Lennox Lewis safe-style, which made him use all of his physical attributes, but also turned him into a very boring fighter. The fights before Steward were the exciting ones: the ones where he could be beaten.

His opponents all have a decent gameplan, but once that jab starts finding them, they're like " aww shiiiit" and then all they can think about is not eating another one. A jab that hard will make a decent fighter great, and you can't teach it. Some just got it. Holmes had it, but he was not as adept as keeping opponents on the outside.

Most of the guys Lewis fought 100 years ago are can still mount a challenge.

    Even Briggs won a belt.

This is a perfect example about the lack of talent at HW, Holyfeild got embarrased by Byrd and Toney yrs ago but nearing 50 suddenly became competivie with Ibragimov and Valuev, Maskiev and Briggs are great examples as well. Hell Ruiz is almost 40 and he is still around.

It is funny how the Wlad haters are always complaining about the lack of competition nowadays and that the old fighters of yesterday are still competitive today, because of the bad era.
By compaining that, you have to consider, that Foreman, Holmes, Lyle still have fought in the late 80´s and 90´s. No one complains about that.:deal

First off he was not competitive with Iggy, He was waay behind in that fight, Secondly Maskaev started boxing at an older age and was only relevant the for ten his last meaningful fight was 2 years ago when he was starched by Peter years so im not sure what your exactly getting at there, Thirdly he fought Valuev after Valuev had already lost his title to chagaev and was awarded an interim title, Besides Valuev was never a good Heavy he was highly protected, When was the last time Briggs was competetive 4 years ago?, He was dominated by Imbragimov in his last title fight. Ruiz is almost 40 and has been involved in the Wba circle Jerk And his last meaningful win was back in 2004. when he was what 35? And as the poster above said Foreman, Lyle, Holmes still fought on does that mean those era's were bad?
