Can someone enlighten me why the number 1 HW in the world is having as a trainer someone who got a UD loss from Seth Mitchell? Is he such a good trainer or there something else? Why is isn't Wlad using some more experienced trainer?
Banks worked very closely with Manny Steward for yrs. He's been in the K2 stable for as long and had sparred hundreds of rds with Wladimir over the yrs. He knows Wlad's strength, his weaknesses, and knows how to motivate Wladimir into pushing himself. IDK, personally, if this is the wisest career choice for Banks, but as for Wlad, it's a good fit. IMO, Banks should not have thrown the Mitchell rematch. Had he just gone ahead and finished Mitchell off, he'd be the one fighting Stiverne for the WBC title. But Mitchell was being groomed to be the next American HW hype, and Wlad wanted that fight. Too bad for Wlad that Arreola/GBP/and DKP had it in their minds that Mitchell would be fed to Stiverne, Wilder, or Arreola if he were to survive the Banks rematch.:think
I thought Wlad might end up with Abel Sanchez but he stayed with Banks and Bashir. It seems to work for him so why change it?
What has the fact he lost to Mitchell have to do with nything?? Who did Manny Stewart himself ever beat?
Being a good boxer doesn't make you a good trainer and vice versa. And the Mitchell loss in the rematch looked pretty fishy to me. He stopped punching everytime he hurt Seth. Looked very much like they wanted Seth in a big money fight against Wlad, because overhyped Americans means $$$$$ in boxing. Wich would make him a lot of money too being Wlad's trainer and getting a % of the loot.
Yes K2 put the fix in for Banks to lose, he was supposed to lose the first time out. Wlad is with Banks because he trained under Steward also at the Kronk Gym, he was quite close with Steward, and also because they (as was Manny Steward) are both Jewish, which is important to Wlad. I seriously doubt Banks really imparts any boxing knowledge that Wlad doesn't already know by now, especially since Banks is nowhere near the skill or experience level that Wlad is on.
Some say that Emmanuel Steward himself was a shitboxer back in the day when he was at it......... and yeah.... I couldn't have heard those words from a more credible source in person.
