Can somebody please school me on the reasons why Sergio has had so much difficulty in finding a decent opponent at his weight? Are the other 160 pounders not willing to face him? Are HBO treating him like **** for some reason? What are the main factors in play that have forced him to settle for Euro-level middleweights and 154 pounders moving up?

Maybe BigBone or anyone else who’s clued up on the matter, can shed some light....

    Thanks

After his last outing, pirog would get knocked out.

Want to see him knock out cotto at 154. But cotto would never take the fight. I would also like to see him knock out Chavez Jr, but Jr would never take the fight.

Martinez would beat the breaks of felix strum and macklin, so who really is there?

    Fixed for you.

Sturm and Pirog are two guys I'd like Sergio to beat while he's waiting for decent challenges (if there is any) to pop up. I want to know why these haven't been made possible for him.

    Still better than Barker.

Or to wait for Chavez to fight him which he will never do.

    Who else is there?

Sturm? hes never going to fight Sergio.

N'Jikam wouldnt be bad but i dont see it happening at this point.

Sergio doesnt really have much to choose from does he?

His best option would be to move up to 168 but he already ruled that out.

Or for Pac or Floyd to fight him.

At his age he cant wait forever for something that will probably never happen.

It looks like He will have to to go the Hopkins way and defend against whoever is available at 160 and hope that some big name moves up to face him.

He was about to fight Sturm but HBO didn´t want the fight to take place in Germany and Sturms channel didn´t agree to the States so Sturm eneded up in with Macklin..
Golovkin simply cannot fight in the US or in any civilized country until his contract ran out
Pirog would be a solid opponent but hes a nobody and Maravilla just trashed some unknown russian in his last fight
the other beltholders Geale and Chavez are unworthy bums

So that's the deal with Sturm. Hopefully HBO, with the new regime, will be a little more lenient and allow Sergio to travel to Germany.

Martinez is the best at 160 and beating whoever they put in front of him...simple as that.

I dont understand why HBO make Dzindiruk and Barker fights possible when a Pirog fight is clearly more prestigious..

Pirog would get beat, but at least its a title unification

That's what I'm failing to understand. Is it a combination of:

    - Other champions not willing to travel?
    - Other champions wanting too much money?
    - HBO wanting to keep fights in the US?
    - HBO not approving some of the fights?

    What is it?

Yes, Martinez is fighting whoever they put infront of him. But with those people that put in front of him, I want to know how and why they were selected over others.

Its like this, the middleweight division is total chaos right now: the wba has 3 champions, sturm: super, golovkin:regular and n'jikam interim, yet they dont fight each other nor do they want to fight martinez.
wbc has chavez jr, who is ducking sergio. ibf has geale a fight with him wasnt possible either for some reason and the wbo has pirog which is actually the only guy martinez' team dont want to fight for some reason.
Basically 160 has pretty good boxers but none of them is fighting each other.
