Why isn't Bute v. Berrio shown in the USA?

So here is the deal:

1- Interbox did NOT win the purse bid because there was no purse bid. Bute's promoter and Berrio reached an agreement hours before the scheduled purse bid.

2- The fight is not in the USA because no US network picked it up. ESPN is off for the rest of the year, Showtime didnt seems to want it and HBO dont broadcast fight on friday I think.

3- The fight will be broadcast on TV for free across Canada on the french tv network TVA.

4- It will also be shown live in the middle of the night in Romania.

5- Finally it will be broadcast on the internet live at http://www.tva.canoe.ca and http://www.videotron.com.

They said the fight would be shown live in Romania in the news paper.

Concerning the internet feed. I beleive the videotron.ca feed will be for videotron internet suscribers only. The TVA feed should be available to everyone.

 

Neither of these guys are household names thats why. These guys would be an undercard to midlevel guys on HBO. Like a Juan Manuel Marquez or Samuel Peter type fighter (in terms of popularity and fanbase).

america simply shows very little boxing from overseas for any overseas fighter to get exposure.


its not as if you do not have enough tv stations or time slots.

your espn friday night bills from america go out on a minor channel in the uk .
your wed night bills and BAD go out at 3am in the morning on delay
your major shows go out live at 4am in the morning uk time.

if america had a same policy instead of being so introverted, then perhaps boxing would become more popular.

 

cannot see it advertised on rumanian tv.

i just checked tvr 1 and 2 and kanal romania which are the 3 channels from rumania where i find sport and they have football/the grand prix/the rugby and i just noticed a bit of porn advertised but no boxing.

 

i get a pro 7 station but its german.
