You move up when you have a big money fight with a cash cow waiting for you one division above, when you've got nothing left to prove in the division or when you've simply outgrown the weight. None of those apply to Golovkin. Two of them apply to Ward. Golovkin could get a money fight with Froch or Chavez Jr. Not with Ward. Froch is likely fighting Groves next and Chavez Jr is fighting Vera. On the short term, not a reason to move up. He's got Martinez in his sight provided Sergio beats Cotto, so he can finally get the lineal MW title. Again, no reason to move up. 1- Ward has Stevenson and Pascal up at LHW who generate great cash. Only thing is Ward would have to go to Canada in order to maximize revenues. 2- Ward has absolutely nothing to prove and no decent names to fight at 168, he's done... what, are we waiting out for Groves? George Groves? We're all holding up for the Ward-Groves megafight? Interesting, but it doesn't have the potential & magnitude of a Martinez-Golovkin fight and there's a chance Froch beats Groves next. So yeah, you can have it both ways here. Ward should move up and Golovkin shouldn't for now.
Ward needs to rematch Kessler in Denmark. This is a great stay busy fight for GGG, as his opponent is much better than Wards last one. Trouble with GGG-Ward right now is that Ward don't sell, which is why he needs to get his ass over seas or at least out of California and get some exposure. GGG already sells more in the US than Ward, and that rift will only increase as GGG is the type of fighter folks will eventually dish out their cash for in future PPVs. GGG brings everything to the table here, and he will dictate terms. Do you understand now.....?
Who gives a **** if it's not being shown in the USA??.............Not us in Europe getting ready to watch the most feared middleweight in history dine on some fresh meat THAT'S FOR SURE!! Have fun ! :hi:
soooooo not exactly a bum but he hasnt beaten a top 20 opponent in since 2011...... hardly a guy worthy of fighting for a title when he hasnt beaten a top contender in 2 fuc.king years :deal its not HBOs job to find him opponents....isnt that the job of his promoters? yeah umm i think it is
That's why Klitschkos always fight in the US right? It doesn't matter where the boxer fights, people are just making a big deal of this. Yes, I believe it's a problem for many Americans who would want to see the fight, but that's just one fight out of 4. The rest will be aired on HBO, just like the last year. Like someone mentioned, HBO tried to work something out to air the fight on HBO2, but it didn't work out. They have the exclusive rights for his fights in the US and it's logical that they don't want any other network to broadcast the fight.
Adama is the best middleweight in all of Africa. Where is the support from his brothas? Huge continent, many countries, billions of people, yet the best of Africa can't even make a challenge for a guy from Kazikstan? You guys saying Adama is a bum must be ashamed of your roots or just making an excuse for the #1 African middleweights loss?
Golovkin-Adama will be telecast in over 100 countries, except USA............ Golovkin's last fight Vs. Stevens was HBO's third highest rated boxing match for 2013. Difficult to understand why HBO/USTV is boycotting this fight........... By the way, Vitali Klitscho Vs. Arreola was HBO's top rated fight of that year!!!!!!!
Because his opponent is completely unknown. I love GGG but his recent choice of opponents have been terrible. The sad thing is, the big names in the division want nothing to do with him so it's not really in his hands to pick better opponents.
