He's never in anyones Pound for Pound list. At the bare minimum he should be in the Ring's current Top 20 Pound for Pound list and he's not even though he's one of the few undisputed champions of a division. Next to Welterweight and Supermiddle, Cruiserweight is probably the best division and none of the Cruiser fighters are listed on any Pound for Pound list that I've seen. What gives? :huh
Because he has yet to fight any of the real CW talent, however, he will be when the Haye bout comes around and if he wins, then you have discussion. I am not impressed by Braithewaite, Hill and Bell, especially considering how the Bell fights went. If he were to defeat Haye, Macca, Wilson and Cunningham, then he'd be a top 10 without a doubt, but that's probably not going to happen.
I agree with most of that but, for example, Cotto is starting to squeak in some of the Top 10 pound for pound lists and his opposition has been good but it hasn't been any better than Mormeck's.
I disagree, but even if you think the comp is comparable, Cotto has CRUSHED most of his, where as Mormeck has lost to Bell and was competitive with Bell and even lost the late rounds to Braithewaite. Bell is an overrated fighter, he never deserved the win over Brown and he was arguably losing to Kelvin Davis before he stopped Davis in the 11th. Meanwhile, Darnell Wilson crushed Bell in 2 and crushed Davis in 3. Then Braithwaite is very average, Guillermo Jones blew him out with ease and Enzo Mac shut him out. I'm just citing examples of why Mormeck would not have been competitive with these guys if he were a true P4P fighter. HOW you win is a big part of the issue and he's not been impressive.
