Why isnt Margarito the WW champion???

Margo has 1 belt, 2 if you count the ibf which was stripped. When he gets 3, we can start talking about a champion

name me 1 top fighter in the sport who doesn't have a belt.

Any top fighter who doesn't have a belt is either about to fight for one or just lost one.

 

I think when Hops beat Tarver to be the recognized LIGHT HEAVY champ.. the only belt on the line was the IBO or IBA or something..

yes I understand this. But the point was that there didnt need to be a major title invloved to know that they were fighting for the LHW championship..

Margarito doesnt need to collect titles..he just needs to rematch Williams and WIN. :good

I think Margo is the top WW but it isn't solid. I'll tell you why, he lost to Williams a couple of fights ago. Not that hard to understand.

A rematch will solidify the top WW.

 

I agree. Hopefully he gets past Clottey and does the Williams rematch in the first quater of next year..

then he can ride off into the sun set and the haters can just hate

 

The Oscars, Roy Jones, and Bernard Hopkins of this world are different from the other fighters. They are from another era. They've been through the whole title thing. How many years combined have these guys held titles? Even PBF and Manny Pacquiao's last fights were for titles. To say that titles don't mean anything is blind. If Margo wants to establish himself as the champion, he needs those titles. If Williams loses his title then beating Williams will not be enough for Margarito to become champion

 

If Williams loses his title then Margo needs to beat the guy that beat Williams.. its that simple.. he doesnt need to collect titles....

If he had ALREADY beatin Williams in that fight, then dropped his WBO to face Cotto and won.. you really think he would need to go back and get the WBO to establish himself as the WW champion? no.

He just needs to rematch Williams at this point( assuming Williams doesnt lose again) avenging his loss to only top ranked welter that has a W over him.

 

Having Cotto ahead of Williams is laughable. Margo is not the champion because he lost to Williams. If he avenges the loss then he is until then he is not.

I dont agree with it either but cant knock someone's opinion, considering Cotto destroyed Quintana and then Quintana went on to Willliams....yeah, yeah I know he won the rematch.....Cotto lost to someone who had a title for years at WW and been ranked for years. Williams lost to someone who never had a title and hadnt been on top end of the WW diviosn before, atleast not the top 5..

To be fair though Margarito should have 2 belts right now. The IBF and the WBA.

But whatever. I do agree. There is no champ at 147 but should Margarito beat Clottey again and retake the IBF title he will be a unified champ, which is better than what we've had since Cory Spinks.

 

Why? Williams is a champ. Margarito is a champ. Williams beat MArgarito. so MArgarito can't be THE champ. Not saying WIlliams is the champ. Or, maybe i can say we have two champs. Winner of that fight would be the champ. Humble opinion...DId i use the word champ?

 

i feel that the title should be vacant..but margarito is clearly number 1..he needs to fight williams to become true king and solidify his status.

Your arguments about williams didn't do that much at welterweight is irrelevant, calzaghe became king at LHW when he didn't do **** at all either at that weight except win agaisnt bhop.
