As absurd as this sounds, I think people dont give him the credit he deserves because his style was just all wrong for toney - and everyone else for that matter. As bizarre as it may seem, I think people are harder on jones because his physical gifts and unorthodox style resemble a style of boxing different from the text book fundamentals we all admire and are used to- He seemed to operate outside of what was possible. Guys like young hopkins and toney looked so masterful and to watch them be outboxed by someone who fought so unorthodox with that type of athleticism is a tough pill to swallow for some.

I heard the IV drips in hospital were before the weigh-in, so that he actually got to the weigh-in.

That makes no sense. Because you drain water to make weight. Putting water back in your body gains weight. So you drop below 168 and then add water to get back to 168? It doesn't make any sense

Hardly any fluid, more the vitamins and minerals delivered to the blood through some, following by urination of water.

Don't know how many other such fighters we have had, that just beat guys in a way no one else did. Tyson has quite a few on his ledger also. Louis as well. They were HWs, though, where power comes into play in a different way. And even they didn't clown guys like Toney, or put clear distance to someone like Hopkins.

Ali might be the closest in that way. Whitaker?

When people talk about the best win of the last 30 years the only two wins that consistently come up every time is RJJ UD Toney and Pacquiao KO Barrera.

    So I don't see it.

They managed to keep James alive (just), and get him on the scales and to the ring.

Nope, read or heard it a few times over the last 30 years or whatever, quite common knowledge
