Why isn't the heavyweight championship of the world shown on HBO or Showtime?

If wlad and vitali where walter and victor johnson and black american heavies a lot of the haters here, hbo and the american people would love them, definitely.
Same way holmes would have been hated for example if he was a white euro.
It sucks that people cant look past race and nationality when it comes to atleast respecting the skills and results.

I come from Classic and am a feared to post here but it's purely economics and geography, if it made sense economically then they would be on.
Maybe they should be sold better, maybe they should think more of the performance than the result if they want HBO etc but that's a boxers decision.
There is a factor outside everybody's control and that's is if there is no marketable US fighter then we are left with the Klit's been big in Europe, and they are bigger than anyone bar Ali and Tyson over here since Joe Louis.

I don't know about all that mayn.

Arcane had said earlier in the thread how much the invested hype was such a let down for them (HBO) in the Ibragimov fight. Wlad had been on the late night TV shows and all kinds of **** for that. Then the floor of the Madison Square Garden was littered with flyers that said "THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING!!!!! :scaredas::scaredas::scaredas:"

That fight was soooooooooo shitty son. :yep

America didn't even like Holmes, until he retired! Its a fact, that if you are boring, and/or have no charisma(like holmes) people will not like you. Especially if you have both like K2!

Their fights are uneventful, and their competition is uninspiring. Their fights used to be shown here all the time. It's amazing that people are claiming that race is the issue. This country is over 70% White. When Vitali fought Lewis in L.A it was widely viewed and the fans in the arena were clearly cheering for Vitali against Lewis, a black fighter. However, people here aren't interested in their mismatches against vastly inferior opponents. They fight almost exclusively in Germany now, which means their fights come on in the afternoon here. That's bad for ratings.

    Everybody is wrong.

HBO puts out stuff that sells. The Klits don't sell in this country. If they did, you bet your ass HBO would be all over that.

    It's about the money stupid.

the reason we dont like/watch them is because THEY DONT FIGHT IN AMERICA. u want respect, u got to come over here and beat our fighters on our soil. look at Khan and Pacquiao. and the lack of american talent in the HW division has alot to do with it too.

The brothers are good fighters. But the truth is they're both still relatively unknown, and their boxing style is not aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Europe loves them, so I guess that's all that counts.
