Why isn't the Linear Ring Magazine Title on the line for Bradley/Alexander?

In my opinion Bradley is the #1 in the division and Alexander is the #3 and according to the ring magazine

"Championship vacancies can be filled by winning a box-off between The Ring's number-one and number-two contenders, or, in certain instances, a box-off between our number-one and number-three contenders"

The answer is in the quote.

Khan is #2. Timmy is #1.

Devon has looked poor in his recent outing and Khan has looked impressive, so that's also another reason :good

Khan and Bradley are both far better than Alexander.

Yeh i think it makes more sense to put it on the line in the final to round off this mini 140lb tourny, hopefully it'll be Bradley (#1 WBO) V Khan (#2 WBA) also i think its a shame that Bradley cannot get the WBC if he wins the fight!

How would you justify that special circumstance? There's Amir freaking Khan in between them and he's ready to fight. If you want to claim the 140 crown you have to get past Khan.

Because that only happens when number 1 already beat number 2, so 1 vs. 3 is for the Ring championship. E. G.: Dawson-Pascal. Johnson was considered number 2 at the time.

They were #1 and #2 in Octobers Ring, which would have been when it was signed wouldn't it? I think personally the title should be on the line.

Funny that the two men have unified each and yet Bradley, if he wins, walks away with just 1 belt...

Why would it go for The Ring belt? Khan and Bradley are clearly the best whereas Kotelnik, Maidana and Alexander belong in another category. Khan-Maidana winner vs. Bradley-Alexander winner for the LWW championship - that was the plan all along.

    Alexander is the #2.

Khan's had a whopping 4 fights at junior welter.

Oh, and I guess people forget Prescott ever happened.

The circumstances in which the third ranked fighter comes into it, are similar to how Wlad got the heavyweight title. Vitali, being his brother, isn't a realistic fight, so when Wlad fought the third best around, Chagaev, that was for The Ring title.

    It happens rarely though.

Glad you picked up on that. Once again, Khan has fought at junior welter 4 times.

Believe it or not, P4P stature does hold up somewhat when you move up in weight. You ought to know, I'm sure you're a David Haye fan. If his cruiserweight resume didn't exist, no way he is ahead of Povetkin or Adamek at heavy.

    Ranking their wins at 140:
    1. Khan UD Maidana
    2. Alexander TKO8 Urango
    3. Khan UD Kotelnik
    4. Alexander UD Kotelnik
    5. Alexander RTD8 Witter
    6. Khan TKO11 Malignaggi
    7. Alexander UD12 Corley
    8. Khan TKO1 Salita

    Maidana >>>> Urango

    Malignaggi >>>> Witter

Khans schooling of Kotelnik was much more impressive then Alexanders narrow win over the same opponent!

Overall it is fair to rank Khan ahead of Alexander!
