I got criticize for saying the Toshiaki guy shouldnt even be consider in the top ten pound for pound. But hey everyone has their opinion and I feel if you want to be recognize as one of the best you should always come to the states like everyone does...

 

japanese boxers stay in japan coz they have the ref, the judge and of course the crowd. Get past the 12 rounds and you get the win. Many asian fighters even die there coz theyre like being butchered in the ring

 

Let's take a look at what America has done for Pacquiao. He's not only big in his native land but worldwide. From any man's perspective, that's gotta be a dream come true, no matter what country you are from. Besides, becoming a star in the US makes an athlete an even bigger celebrity in his hometown. Part of boxing is about testing your talent. Why place a limit on your career? I'd be fighting on the moon if that's what it takes to maximize glory.

 

Glory don't earn you money. Pacquiao HAD to fight in the US because most of his competition at the time were all Latino greats or were based in the US. More money to be made in the US too. But if I recall correctly, Pac also fought in Japan and Thailand because there's more money to be had overseas than in the Philippines. Different situations.

 

It should be noted Teiken promotions does a damn good job at making there fighters money there's a reason Linares and Valero didn't leave for a while.

 

I think it would be pretty cool if HBO did a broadcast in Tokyo co-featuring a good Japanese fighter with Sergio in the main event or something. Say what you want I bet the crowd in Japan will be way bigger than the crowd at the foxwoods resort and casino in connecticut. Doubt it will ever happen though.

 

The fights have to be tape delayed though which they don't like to do, otherwise it's at like 9 AM in Japan like the Tyson-Douglas one was.

I don't know much about MMA broadcasting history, wasn't the DREAM card around new years on at really odd hours in the USA and the old Pride shows were on a delayed PPV I think. If you want to have a fight live in Japan and play it in the US it has to be early morning in Japan which is just weird and networks prefer to avoid tape delays I imagine.

 

Japanese fighters stay in Japan because taking from Floyd's wisdom, it's crazy how Japanese fighters can come to the US and get praised.

 

Im not sure on that one either. Here is Australia we get the K1 open weight Grand Prix for the kickboxing, and that is on at about 6 in the evening for us, so it's good timing. Not sure what time they have the fights in Japan, but most likley at night.

Much like boxing in England, PPV are fought early in the morning for a US mid day broadcast. Like the Ricky Hatton and Kostya Tszyu's fight was at 3am if i can remember correctly. How do you train for that? I dont know any sparing partners who would be up at thoses hours lol :dead

 

The Japanese fighters/audience doesnt care what america got in terms of boxing. You go over there if you want a fight.
