There were several problems with Katsidis and his gameplan for this fight......

    1. His trainer was horribly delusional, unrealistic, too positive and didnt give Katz the specific instructions he needed. He needed to light a fire under his ass after about the 3rd or 4th round, slap his face abit. It appeared Katz was not focused but this was due in part to a poor gameplan(if any) and again horrible corner work

    2. Katsidis tried to be too disciplined, which in part took away much of the fire

    3. I believe it was the 8th round when Katsidis started to back off, made Juan come to him, and when Juan would get close Katz would unleash nice combos that worked very well and won him the round.

    4. Juan fought about a perfect fight and had excellent instructions from his corner

    5. Everytime Katz would throw something meaningful he would immediately smother Juan and himself.

    6. No real body work by Katz at all which would've made the fight more competitive.

All in all it was a great fight but left alot to be desired from Katz, he should maybe think about a new trainer....Buddy McGirt i think would suit him nicely

Great fight by Juan, he did everything perfect, defense, jab, angles, combos and so forth

    Your thoughts

Very good points there, agree with many of them.

I thought the right to the body was a good shot to use on Diaz but hardly saw it.
His corner was unbelievable, incompetent would be one adjective I would use.

At the end of the day though Juan Diaz was just the superior fighter. Against a wide open brawler like Katsidas his skills and speed are really highlighted. Plus he is such a strong kid with a great work ethic.
Not a whole lot Katsidas could have done in there anyway I reckon.

I'm not saying Katsidis wouldve won. I'm saying he couldve made it a much better fight and COULDVE won.
Juan did fight a superb fight however Katsidis couldve broken him with the proper gameplan and proper motivation

Indeed Brendan Smith did a horrible job in the corner but don't think Mick will sack him,the guy is also his manager and has been training him since he was 11.I'm really depleted about Mcik's performance

Thunder...Mick needs to shitcan him if he wants to be succesful plain and simple...Or at least make him a second

Buddy Mcgirt would be the best trainer for Katz

It's a time for acceptance thunder

I wonder why Katzidis never went on suiciside mode like he did with Casamayor. Basically Kasidis was outboxed the entire fight and he didnt try to switch it up and go balls out brawling. I dont think he ever tried to pick a fight he was actually trying to outbox juan diaz LO ****ing L

Because he got knocked out in that fight. He ran into a left hook and it was lights out. Many times, a fighter's mentallity changes when he gets knocked out. Let's be real, Katsidis is not a very good fighter anyway. He's got a lot of heart and is exciting to watch, but he's limited. He's another Gatti.

i never thought Katsidis was that good a fighter or that he had much of a shot against Juan Diaz.

I would like to see Katsidis and David Diaz each get a nice win against a tuneup on the same card and then face each other.

Mcgirt is a great cornerman and focuses on enhancing a fighters abilities instead of changing **** up, and he's honest throughout a fight and is a good motivator.

And he didnt let it all hang out because he had a dumbass trainer saying "You're doing beautiful mate, very nice, keep doing what you're doing" despite being beaten in about every round.

    Katsidis needs McGirt!!!!!!!!!

That was the best possible performance a limited fighter could have shown.:hey

So, don't be too harsh with Kats. He gave his best, but, well.. heart is not everything...:yep

 You're taking this abit hard thunder. Youre shellshocked like I was after Cotto-Margarito. My brother and myself just walked around saying "What the ****" "How could Cotto lose?"

Its not as bad as you think...Katsidis will still be rated highly by the sanctioning bodies but the real problem lies with his trainer. Katsidis will work his way up again and get his title, probably not till next year sometime

Katsidis just lost to 2 of the best lightweights in the world, no shame in that. But he needs to fix a few things, the most important being his trainer!!!!!!!
