This isn't a one dimensional taunt, like when Lacy did it. Kessler is too smart to simply say "oh your weak", "oh your chin is glass", "oh your slow" etc... Mikkel Kessler has been here at ESB reading my posts and taking notes. One such post is this following: Now Mike saw this and as a rational person, inevitablely had to agree with it. A month or so later Kessler starts coming out with this "Calzaghe has no power" thing. This is out of character from Mike. Both fighters previously had been complimentary of each other's abilities and respectful. Then out of nowhere Kessler starts using insults you'd usually expect from a simpleton or ignorant Danish/American boxing fan. Kessler is usually better than this... But wait a moment, Mike Kessler read my post and suddenly had a brainwave: I cannot beat Joe Calzaghe unless he breaks his hand like CHJ said. I need to encourage Joe Calzaghe to break his hand on my head. I know, I can taunt Joe, insult his power, attempt to enrage him and maybe, just maybe he will hit my head hard enough to break his hand. In short, these insults are to try and lure Calzaghe into throwing angry powershots which will possibly break his hand on fightnight. The fact they help sell the fight is only a bonus.
Calzaghe would only break them If he landed on Kessler's head rather than his chin. Seeing the promo video for this fight on Frank Warren's site, I'm wondering If Calzaghe will be wearing grant gloves, will they be good for his hands?
Man I thought I was 'out there'! That's quite a theory. I agree that Kessler's too smart to just insult Calzaghe for the hell of it. The pressure may be getting to him so he's starting to come out with agressive out of character remarks. Or perhaps he wants to anger Calzaghe so he'll fight more aggressively, make more mistakes and leave himself open to Kessler's best shots. But I doubt his plan is that Joe will break his hand :yep
Thats why you have changed your mind about the fight! Not giving Kessler more ideas, against your man!:hey
