Holmes was a great boxer but didn't have a worldly education.
He never considered the other side of the world.

I think what the poster is trying to say is that all of these fighters have taken so many beat-downs that they now pronounce the word " technical " as " techno "? :huh

 

Larry was a beast in the ring. To some he did'nt seem smart but the man invested his money well and that's smart enough.

Larry said to the effect (I've seen him say this on many different occasions including the Phil Donahue Show) blacks are superior boxers and will always dominant the Heavyweight Divison.
I guess he didn't count on the Russian invasion.

What he said about black fighters at the time was TRUE, like it or not. At the moment it isn't, but he was right at the time. Get a grip people....

 

I agree, unless you predicted the fall of the Iron Curtain (the CIA failed) then it seemed a good assumption.

 

Larry was right in that Marciano wasn't as good as he was but at the same time, Larry isn't nearly as great as he thinks he was and a lot of boxing fans think he was too. If you care to dig through some old boxing magazines what was generally written about Larry and his peers is the same **** that is being written about today's heavyweights. "Division devoid of talent". Larry educated the likes of Mike Katz, Max Kellerman, Don Omega and The Iron Truth, " If he's white, he can't fight". That theory is starting to look a little bit flawed these days.

The thing about living in today's information age is that one can't get by with that kind of **** without somebody calling them on it.
