Of course Lewis is an all time great.:nono

In fact, based on accomplishments Lennox is easily top 10, probably top 5. Head to head he ranks even higher, probably top 3.

I don't have the time to explain why, you're posting on a boxing fan page & you should know why without having to hear it from me. :deal

My only problem with this simple fact when used as a justication of Lewis's ATG status is the fact that he lost to two guys he never should have lost too. Tyson did it once in his prime and his reputation never truly recovered. Lewis did it twice.

Honestly, I never understood why Lewis got such credit for his revenge match against Rachman. Were it not for Lewis, Rachman would have retired as a journeyman. The guy lost to Maskev...twice! And Oliver Mccall? Well, he was one tough son of a gun, but not even close to an elite fighter.

How many times in a single post do you have to refer to the Klitschkos as girls or sisters to reaffirm to yourself your manhood?

Both Klitschko brothers are good Heavyweight Champions & you are a mere closet homosexual.

I'm not knocking you for placing Lewis above frazier, I just never thought Lewis was very exceptional given his natural gifts.

I expected him to win the fights he did, and expected even more domination from him.

Probably just sour grapes in my case, but I still don't put him in my top 10 when he lost to guys like mercer/rahman/mccall.

    Top 11-20 for sure, though.

Lewis fought like the "sisters" when he fought Holyfield. He was cautious and tentative against a fighters who was still good, but was clearly past his prime. As the poster mentioned Bowe knocked him could years earlier.

However, I still think Lewis was an atg. He just gets way too much credit for winning fights that he was supposed to win. He was supposed to beat old Holyfiled. He was supposed to beat old Tyson. And he was certainly supposed to win the revenge matches against the two journeymen that beat him, Rachman and Mccall.

the mercer fights a tough one, i think i scored it as a draw at the time. to me it was close enough to except the verdict whichever way it went so i think its a bit harsh you insisting it was a mercer win though i do believe that you genuinelly did score it that way. its kinda like saying that ali lost to norton twice.

another factor which i think that lewis deserves credit for is the fact that he achieved everything he did on foreign soil.

Yeah, I give mercer the nod, I can see a draw though.

I do however think lennox clearly beat holyfield twice, but he was supposed to. Holyfield was already done with his bowe/tyson fights.

It's sorta like Mayweather..... all these other guys are fighting each other and then someone comes in and picks up the scraps and goes "Look at me, i'm the best!"

That's a bit facile. I think Lewis benefits greatly from being the last of the great or near great heavyweights. Because people long for those days, Lewis has gotten too much respect, in my opinion, for what he actually did. A very good fighters who had some good wins. But never a definitive one. Every good fighter he beat had been beaten before, even Vitali.

In my opinion a single win against an ATG means jack****. Especially - like in Frazier's case - if against the same opponent his total score is 1 out of 3.

It's all about consistency against top opposition, dominance of an era and non-tangible impact as an athlete.

Frazier scores extremely low in all three departments.

Your chin has nothing to do with being an ATG or not. RJJ had a **** chin and he is still ATG regardless of the single punch KO's.

    41-2-1

    With wins against opponents like...

    V.Klit
    Mike Tyson
    Evander Holyfield
    Tua
    Briggs
    Rahman
    Golota
    Morrison
    McCall
    Mercer

    Not ATG? Cmon now...

In a better era, against better fighters.

It's not so cut and dry.
Frazier would have never been knocked out by rahman or mccall.

It took George Foreman in his prime to do it.

Somebody get a toothbrush, we gotta scare the Brits away for a second.

Everybody knows that you can't make a Lennox Lewis thread without attracting them like moths to a light.
