Why Lopez & Gamboa should fight now...from Bob Arums point of view

I first felt Juanma would win but since that time i seen a improvement in Gamboa from lil bits i watch and Juanma hasn't improved greatly imo. He still fights with his heart and is very hotheaded and now i feel Gamboa is in fantastic position to beat him if they meet.

Should they meet now? course they ****ing should. Things in boxing rarely go to plan and lets face it Juanma hasn't looked particularly safe in recent fights and he could quite easily get beaten sooner rather then later.

Get the fight on now both men are coming off massive wins and are young lions who are primed to unleash war. Boxing awaits a war! and a war that could light up any arena in the world.

 

Juanma is slowwwwwww in comparison. Seriously.

Never been impressed with his footspeed. He's a beast size wise and he'll make Gamboa look tiny on fight night.

 

Too slow, defence is porous, Gamboa will destroy him inside five rounds. Mark my words (come back just to say 'well done' )

I've always felt this was a bad matchup for JuanMa since it was first mooted.

Gamboa should then do a one-month 'World tour', and spend a total of about fifteen minutes ruining Burns, Fana and Uchiyama.

The Cotto vs Margarito one i think Arum was sure that Cotto would win and by doing so in dominating fashion he'd have his next superstar. He did what he could with Margarito when he got the upset but it wasn't in his plans. Pacquaio, well he just earning as much as he can from him in every fight before manny quits.

I think Flea Man got it spot on. Arum thinks that Gamboa will dispose of Lopez fairly comfortably (i think that too) and he won't become a superstar whilst doing it. If he favoured Lopez the fight would have happened already.

You've made me so unbelievably dissapointed with that comment that I think I've just got displacement anger: you know the kind of anger where when the boss yells at you then you go home and kick the family cat, LOL!

You're normally spot on with these things....If your sources tell you that it will definitely not happen then I have to go with that...but I've seen a more "care-free" side to the Bobfather recently among his stable where I didn't think there would be an issue. Damn i'm pissed!

 

Small thought I've just had - maybe its partially down to Ahmet Oner and his stake in Gamboa? Arum might be waiting for that to expire so he can get 100% of both Gamboa and Lopez and be in full control of the winner?

Arum hasn't made it anymore anticipated over the last 12 months so no point trying to build it anymore.
