Why Manny is fighter of the decade and greater than Floyd

Floyd was robbed of his fighter of the decade title and he proved it by schooling Pacquiao head to head.

 

I'll give my take. Bear with me.

The whole 'Fighter of the Decade' thing is a bit of a red herring, really. The Pacquiao die hards (I'm a fan of Manny, by the way, just a realistic one) will naturally want to hold on to it and throw it in the faces of the Mayweather fanatics, but let's be clear here: while Pacquiao might get 'Fighter of the Decade' on a technicality, Mayweather is clearly the greatest fighter of his era, with Manny having to settle for the silver / bronze medal.

If you imagine that both Manny and Floyd turned professional on January 1 2000, and then both hung the gloves up on December 31 2009, and only examine their results and opposition specifically between those two dates ignoring everything else, then yeah, maybe Manny's record looks better than Floyd's. It allows you to airbrush out Pacquiao's KO defeats against Singsurat, Torrecampo and Marquez, the gift decision in that third fight with Marquez and him losing a clear verdict to Mayweather this year, too. Similarly, Floyd's masterclass as a 21-year-old against Hernandez, his hammering of Mosley (a far superior performance to what Pacquiao managed against Shane), his dominance over Alvarez and his win over Manny himself can all be ignored if you focus on the 'decade' dynamic.

In that ten-year timespan Pacquiao accumulated the better wins and, while he did lose deservedly to Morales, he avenged the loss twice.

But both of their careers - and more importantly, their championship careers - started before 2000, and likewise they've stretched beyond 2009. Pacquiao arguably had the better decade, but more importantly Floyd has had the better career and therefore goes down as the greater fighter with a superior resume.

 

Too bad for you ring magazine doesn't agree with you troll. They ranked pbf #12 best fighter since ww2 and this was before the maidana rematch and his win over Pac. Whereas Pac wasnt even ranked by them on the best 20 list. Only a fool would believe Pac is a higher rated fighter his peers don't believe it and neither does the ring. Pbf>Pac deal with it.
