as far as floyd's next big challenge, and to fight cotto to prove his greatness...please, he doesn't even belong in the same ring as floyd. he's just a shorter version of hatton and would get knocked out even worse.
the bottom line is...if shane mosely could do what he did against cotto, imagine what floyd would do, it would be an destruction to say the least.

and it wouldn't stamp his legacy, cause in all honesty, cotto is still not considered a great

i do think that he should fight mosely though. even though he lost to cotto, he has a different style, and his legacy is already stamped, so it would look much better on his resume than cotto.
def think he should fight mosely before, or instead of, oscar, and i hope he does since that rematch is in sept. and i would think that fight would bring the most money than any other fight, considering not as many people would be interested in the rematch

Hold on he should fight Moseley who just lost to Cotto rather than than Cotto himself?

Yeah, because Cotto is just a shorter version of Hatton and Mosley apparently is a big draw who brings in $.

Doggie's logic is rather illogical. Mayweather shouldn't fight Cotto because the Mosely fight was too close? Fighting one guy has little to do with fighting another. Floyd and Shanes style are quite different. And to suggest that Cotto is "a shorter version of Hatton" isn't even remotely correct. Cotto is stronger, faster, more skilled and NOT shorter.
Again, if Mayweather doesn't fight Cotto because he "doesn't belong in the ring with Floyd" , than who does? DelaHoya, who already lost convincingly to Floyd?
Cotto is the top contender, like it or not. That alone entiles him to a shot.
If title matches weren't made because the challenger didn't have a chance , then Douglas-Tyson would have never happened.

The difference between Cotto and Hatton is that Cotto is a welterweight. Hatton isn't. Period.

spot on. this alone gives cotto a much better chance against PBF than hatton did. cotto v PBF would be a great fight, make it happen!

cotto shorter than hatton ??? my dude hatton is 5'6 1/2 if u wanna get technical and cotto is 5'8. why arent people giving cotto his props. i think he does have a chance at floyd. not to say he will win. im not saying that. but right now cotto is the man to fight floyd. just not to the public because his name isnt that big yet. he should fought oscar in may then floyd late in the year. but no1 calls out cotto. cuz no1 wants to get in the ring with him

okay, okay...look at the mosely/cotto, mosely may have lost, but he did put up a fight, and a good one too. mosely even had him staggered...now imagine what floyd would do to that midget. it would be more of a lesson than everything bill gates was taught in high school. i can't believe you guys can't see that

don't know people say that he has to fight cotto to be the best...after that it will be someone else, and then another and so on.

just like beeston said, only difference hatton and cotto is welter and light welter. so why would anyone want to see the same ass beating twice.

i admit that he shouldn't have a rematch w/ oscar, but i think he should fight mosely while oscar fights his tune up. but i do think that the rematch will be better cause floyd knows that many thought it was boring, and he doesn't want to do that again

bottom line is...he'd have a harder fight against mosley's style than cotto's. we already saw what he did to cotto's style in hatton

I dont think Mayweather needs Coto he could fight Mosley or Williams which are harder fights IMO . Will he fight any of them I doubt it he will fight dlh again.

    ok fine...doesn't matter...same style

but you have to admit, he does look shorter than hatton, maybe cause he's stockier

hatton fights in no way like cotto... lol... and even if he DID... which he doesnt, cotto is a much better actual boxer with a better jab, but a little less active, hatton is more in your chest mauling and grappling, outstrengthening his opponents and wearing them down..

Cotto has a much better jab, much more consistant body attack, more power.. and the list goes on and on...
