I want to start by saying that I am a Floyd Mayweather Jr. fan. I think he is an outstanding boxer. Sence I started serously fallowing boxing around 1990 I would only rank Pernell Whitaker and Roy Jones Jr. over him during this period of time. Let us face facts Mayweather is not a box office draw as evdinced by slugulsh sales of tickets and Pay Per View for his fight with Juan Manual Marquez who many conseder to be the curent #2 pound for pound boxer in the world to day. Perhaps with the postponment of their fight sales will pick up. It is not entierly Mayweather's fault that he is not a box office draw. Boxing had sold it's soul to the Pay Per View Devil a long time ago. A deal with the devil never turns out good dose it?
When Mayweather took on Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton he took on the role of the bad guy in the promotions for both fights. It is a role that he plays very well. Consedering the popularty of both De La Hoya who could sell snow in a snow storm and Hatton was it realy nesscarly for mayweather to play the bad guy?
Everyone loves the underdog. However all sports need heros. Someone who we as fans can rely on to come through time and time again. Espicialy in individual sports like boxing.
For the sake of boxing (as well as Mayweather's box office draw) as long as Mayweather is the best he needs to learn to play the good guy as well as he plays the bad guy. This dose not mean he has to turn his oponents in to the bad guys. It means he needs to be less antaginstic.

Mayweather is not a very likable person and his style is not attractive. He is not 'money'. The funny thing is he was trying to tout himself as boxing's biggest cash cow after the huge revenues generated by his fights against DLH and Hatton. Now he'll hopefully understand that he, himself, is not the money.

He was never the cash cow. There are two kinds of people who watch his fights.

1 - People who want to see him lose

2 - People who are fans of his opponents.

#3 - People who actually enjoy watching a very skilled boxer in action.
Ali talked plenty of trash and many regard him as the greatest. Mayweather Jr. will not be appreciated until he is retired for about 5 years. Hate on haters. Losing will not make him less of a fighter. He's a HOFer and no hater can erase that.

Gotta agree with ya on that. He wouldn't have so many haters if he would have kept the same attitude from earlier in his career.

Bragging about money in a recession only works for rappers. It was just a bad play to go with the money image.

Defensive? Nobody even questioned his skill or place in history, just his marketability, and yet here you come to his rescue brandishing the word 'haters'.

Are you comparing Floyd to Ali?? Whether you like him or not, everytime Ali spoke he made a statement and occasionally shared true wisdom.

He is not some empty/shallow slab of human flesh who spews nothing but nonsensical classless garbage.

And also Ali was a superb offensive fighter, to compare their skills is absurd.

That is what pisses me off the most. I recall Floyd saying that when people think of boxing, they think of Mayweather and not Ali. His arrogance is way to extreme. Even in his lifetime, he can never be compared to Ali. PBF never had the wars Ali had. Ali faced the most dangerous opponents out there while PBF retired when they started knocking on his door. Yeah I guess when somebody mentions boxing, they will remember Mayweather not as a champion but as a questionable fighter.

Now before people start saying im a hater, let me say that I'm a fan. PBF is probably one of the greatest in boxing but he will never ever be in the likes of Ali.

Mayweather was always jealous of Oscar's wealth and success. He resorted to any tactic to try to surpass DLH's status and thought that by actually beating DLH he would get there but he isnt.

I remember Floyd saying that he knew Oscar was richer than him but that Oscar was the cheapest person he ever knew. Well maybe Floyd should learn from Oscar since instead of being in debt like Floyd he keeps on making money.
