Why does everyone say ufc ppv buys are declining? They arent.
They did more buys last year than the year previous.. so..

They had a rough stretch where every fight they made was getting canceled due to injury... but even then their lowest ppv buy was what... 300k? And that card was an injury disaster.

When Brock gets back in the cage.. if its against frank mir.. its going to do HUGE numbers. Over a million.

Top 10 PPV buy rates, 2009

    1. UFC 100:
Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir, July 11, 1.6 million
    2. Boxing: Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto, Nov. 14, 1.25 million
    3. Boxing: Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez, Sept. 19, 1.05 millon
    4. UFC 94: Georges St. Pierre vs. B.J. Penn, Jan. 31, 920,000 buys
    5. UFC 101: Penn vs. Kenny Florian/Anderson Silva vs. Forrest Griffin, Aug. 8, 850,000
    6. Boxing: Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton, May 2, 825,000
7t. UFC 107: Penn vs. Diego Sanchez, Dec. 12, 650,000
7t. UFC 97: Silva vs. Thales Leites/Chuck Liddell vs. Mauricio Rua, April 18, 650,000
    9. UFC 99: Lyoto Machida vs. Rashad Evans/Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra, May 23, 635,000

Why do you always have to compare boxing and MMA? They are two different sports. I don't see people arguing which is better, MMA or K-1. Why can't MMA fans just watch MMA and shut the **** up? And boxing fans, do the same thing.

its not actually strikeforce that woulod be the problem here.. its fedors management M1, theyre corrupt as **** and are actually now even keeping fedor off their next 2 cards... theyre a discgrace as far as a promotiong company go, worse than anyone in boxing MIO

as for the little amateur background... they do, they just have it in one or 2 of their fields, like as an amateur kickboxer or a pro wrestler etc... they specialised in 2 fields (2's the minimum these days if ya dont want to get completely outclassed standing or on the ground) and now theyre combining all the sports together

just my input, i know where ur comin from but its not as if theyve just turned pro with no background in anything

I don't understand how you can't be a fan of both, fact is, MMA is NOT a "fad" and boxing is NOT "dying".

Boxing may not be dying but its getting nowhere. Its been the same for how long?? Now u gotta think about MMA. its growing. Think about what boxing will be like 10 or 20 years from now. Will it be bigger than it is now? I doubt it. Now think about MMA. It will keep growing and growing for years to come and will be as big or bigger than boxing. I think MMA will become just as popluar as boxing. it may take 10-20 but at least its still growing and boxing isn't

I can respect MMA, and there are some fighters I like to watch, but for me boxing is where its at.

Boxing is a disciplined sport, and MMA is just balls out brawling.
