The loss to Vernon Forrest I. Prior to that fight is when he was finally getting groomed for the big time. But that loss showed the worst of Sugar Shane. That headbutt early in the fight just threw him off of his game. And it was down hill from there.... and a constant struggle to get back up to that P4Prating.
Shane was a REAL fighter. I remember an interveiw back when he had 15 fights or so when he said he expected to end his career with 6 or 7 loses, because he wanted to fight all the best fighters. In the perfect world those would be the guys that make the most money. But its not, its the ones that play games, oh im going to fight him next time I promise. Shane could have fought some bums after he lost to Forrest, he didnt, he could have avoided Wright he didnt. Plus its not like Shane was a no draw, he made plenty of money. Its not like he was fighting for less in 1mill per fight
You have a point, but I'd still rather see "bad promotion" make better fights; the sport would still thrive, IMO. I think with Mosley, it comes down to his lack of a big promoter. He fought big fights against the best consistently, but it rarely seemed to me like an "Event". Having a lack of a home-town or international base has to be compensated with good promotion, which he did not have.
Wrong place wrong time? I mean, people are talking about his personality... A guy who is very similar is Lucian Bute (in terms of personality. Imagine if Sugar Shane was/had been fighting out of Montreal Canada? People here like that humble/friendly personality type.
