It's because people are idiots so when they become boxing fans they don't think critically rather there are some rules by which they think: 1. if a fighter takes a bad beating he NECESSARILY is not the same any more (never mind whether there's no evidence for it, if he has taken a beating he is not the same any more) 2. if a fighter who wins a lot of fights in a row loses one or two, he is also not the same - the option that he simply fought fighter who were: a) better b) stylistically a problem c) a fight which maybe he wins 8 times out of 10 or 6 times out of 10 don't come to mind AT ALL. The funny thing is, people were picking Cotto in the Marg fight, which is the right choice, but they were picking them for their wrong ******ed reasons. They were picking him because Margarito "looked bad" against Mosley and Pac which they took as evidence of his decline, for the same reasons I listed above. People are just stupid.
:deal Some fighters acted like they'd seen Margarito in sparring months after the Pacquiao fight and watched him get slaughtered before their eyes.
I dont think he is faded....he lost to Margo who had he used the gameplan from the second fight he would only have one loss right now and Pac who is the 1 or 2 P4P fighter in the world. Margo loss probaly should have an asterisks. However...Cotto will never be on the B-Hops,Pac,Floyd levels.
I agree, but not so much with the Mayorga comment. It's not easy to look good against Mayorga with his wild style. Cotto boxed well, although shouldn't have been in range to get hit with so many right hands though.
doesnt take a genius to see cotto aint the same any more. floyd kills him. miguel too slow and has no defense
154 is not incredibly strong if you take away Sergio and Pwil who are basicly gone. It's even less strong if you don't fight any of the contenders or inconvenient mandatories. I would rather see Cotto solidify his right to the title at 154 by unifying than chase fights he has no chance of winning.
Mayorga is completely retired. He hangs out and smokes and drinks and doesn't train. When is the last time he beat a top 20 opponent? Who was the president when that happened? DLH's faded ass had no problem looking good against the "fresher" version of Mayorga.
N'dou, Bailey, Torres, Foreman, Malignaggi, Corely, Judah, Clottey, Margarito, Quintana, Mosley, and Pacquiao are cab drivers? :huh
What makes you think that makes Mayorga retired? He does all of those things days before his fights...and screwing 13 year old girls as well!!!
