I'm Half Chinese Half English I wake up in the morning and wanna kick my own ass!! J/K. I think that we (being my chinese half) Are very proud of our heritage and maybe find boxing either inferior or insulting to our fore fathers(considering the Yanks did occupy China for awhile) I box though and love it!! I did do Martial Arts for a long time and feel spiritually attached!
Tang Lung was a great chinese boxer. Also, I don't think there's a whole bunch of boxing gyms or boxing trainers in China. they probably all doing like rhythmic gymnastics and ****.
I am a danish expat in Beijing. Mainstream sports are, tabletennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball and football (soccer). However as far as I know Pro boxing is one of the most expensive sports to get the TV rights. And every sunday arround noon we can watch the big fights (HBO, Showtime etc) for free on CCTV 5. That is the Chinese comunist controlled network. So I do not think that chinese are ashamed of boxing at all. I have the feeling that China is the future for boxing but that future is still a little bit distant. But as I mentioned in an earlier post in next years Olympics here in Beijing you will see some great Chinese boxers as well.:bbb
Well, even the pre trail olympics China got to qualify one their boys from home cooking.Pinoy Jaurez bloodied and put the China man down on the canvass.Chinese brother ran and held but still won. That's because it's impossible to KO foos in the Olympics. You can't run, hold to win in the PROS.It might too brutal to watch them get KTFO. If Jaurez vs that Chinese kid was a PRO match.Goodness it would be a slaughter.
