This Friday in Montreal a pair of Quebecers known on the international scene head up a bill that none of us are going to see. Former world title challenger Sebastian "Double Trouble" Demers is actually matched fairly competitively coming off his upset loss to Bryan Vera, against solid fringe contender and provincemate Renan St. Juste (who recently joined the "I Knocked Out Dionisio Miranda" club at the age of 37). David Lemieux is nearly half the age of Purnell "Knock You Out" Gates, his once-beaten opponent from just across the Great Lakes. So...on the menu we have a potentially desperate crossroads dust-up, as well as what is almost sure to end in a brutal KO. Yet not even Canadian television seems to be touching it. Lemieux carried an entire broadcast on ESPN3.com last month in his quick night's work against Hector Camacho Jr. Why wouldn't ESPN3 continue to display the dynamic punching phenom as he progresses? The co-feature this time is certainly no less interesting than was Antonin Decarie vs. Irving Garcia (which they didn't even include in the live feed). The battering of Camacho was the type of performance that should increase a prospect's exposure...not do the complete opposite. :huh
In all likeliness, in a not-so-distant future, he's gonna get past Rubio too. What's next? Will Martinez have time to face Zbik and Chavez Jr before David gets a shot? Or do you think GYM is gonna go after a guy like Sturm or Pirog?
