I'm mean what's not to like a young guy that throws 1000 punches a fight, will fight anyone and yet seems to get little or no respect from the people here. I just don't get it. Why isn't he more liked here?

    I have no idea tbh.

I think people dont like that fact that he seems like he is draining to **** to fight people that are much smaller.

    I like the guy.

I been a fan of the Punisher every since the Shamba Mitchell fight...I think his problem is that is not active enough for a up and coming fighter. Did he just have one fight this year?

B/c people or boxing fans who aren't as schooled in the science of boxing can't really see the special quality that Paul embodies. he's not a flashy fighter but he is a professional workman who has a lot of great boxing technique and skills...he just isn't GREAT at any one thing but he is overall a very solid boxer with an unreal workrate that makes him a future dominant champion in the sport....he holds a belt right now but his only real win was a GREAT one against Marg. He still has some proving left to do even though that one win was better than most any other fighter that turned pro at the same time.

I checked boxrec, and his only fight this year was with Margarito...Way too inactive for a young fighter...Hopefully 2008 will be the year of the "Punisher":bbb

    because he likes homecooking.

i cannot rate what i do not see fighting over there with dodgy refs and crooked judges.

until he comes to europe he is just another american feasting on american tomato cans.

to be a good fighter you must fight eurpoean`s as you will get no legacy or exposure fighting in america.

europe is the home of boxing and where all the money is and paul williams fighting in america is limiting himself to the money and oppurtunities there are for him if he would just once fight overseas.

now does this drivel in my post sound familiar to anyone because i have seen this wrote down 1000`s of times with just a name and continent change.
i will be surprised if i do not get a few angry responses from posters taking my sarcasm seriously.hopefully people are not this gullible on esb.

This is the main reason Williams isn't shown the love that most of the other WW gets.

    Mayweather fought twice this year.
    Cotto fought twice this year.
    Margarito fought twice this year.
**** - even Shane Mosley fought twice this year.
Clottey even fought 3 times this year.

Williams beat Margarito then did nothing - when he fought 4 times last year. Maybe winning a title went to his head.

I need to see this guy start delivering a few check hooks before I start calling myself a fan.

Have only seen the Maragrito fight and it was good. I think the inactivity thing is the key, as these guys said.

Man....I hear that said a lot. Paul isn't a "Pitty Pat" fighter. Paul Malinaggi is a Pitty Pat Fighter. Paul has pop and he proves that by KOing most of his opponents! Seeing 100+ punches a round from a Tall and lanky guy might give off that impression but you can hear and feel his punches when they land from your couch.
