Why no interest in Salgado??

JuanMa Lopez creating a huge buzz when he demolished Deleon, and the same thing happened to Maidana when he beat Ortiz but so far there seems to be very little interest in Juan Carlos Salgado who demolished Linares(IMO a better fighter than both Ortiz and Deleon):huh

Yea i have been wondering about that. Could be because it happened in Japan and not many people here watched the fight.

That was probably the biggest upset of the year.

Hadn't even thought about that, but your right Linares was highly touted!

Salgado will be fighting next week so we'll know more about him.

Hoping he doesn't go the Breidis Prescot route!

Lopez was already buzzing going into the PDL fight. Salgado kind of came out of left field.

Let's say that's the case and only use Prescot and Maidana as comparisons, Salgado is still gettin very little press in light of what he did.

This might all be moot Monday night though!

Salgado demolished the best fighter in his class only to fade to obscurity. He does not even get much press in Mexico.

U are right...I have not watched any of his previous fights besides the Linares fight. I wonder if his style is fan friendly? I think everyone is wondering if hes just a one hit wonder. Well find out this week I guess.

I think because Linares himself wasn't hyped as much in mainstream terms as were both Khan (to UK audiences) and Ortiz (to HBO audiences). Linares was hyped among diehard boxing fans and on message boards, but was himself still a virtual unknown to HBO audiences or on the larger global scene. Certainly Ponce De Leon at the time he faced Lopez was for better or worse a far bigger name (if not necessarily a bigger talent) than Linares at the time he faced Salgado.

You're right, let's wait and see on Monday. :p
