Whenever people name fighters who would have beaten Calzaghe it's always Hopkins, Jones, Toney.

Why is Montell Griffin never mentioned when he beat Toney twice and beat Jones?

Montell Griffin is definitely levels below guys like Hopkins, Jones, etc. He was a contender in a nothing special LHW era.

We all know that. But i had Griffin winning before the KD. And Griffin was giving RJJ all sorts of trouble. Had the DQ not happened, RJJ might've finished the deal. But it's not for sure. Griffin was having a great night.

In their 2nd fight, the scorecards were 119-109, 116-112, 116-112 for Griffin.

Montell Williams has more of a chance at beating Joe Calzaghe than Montell Griffin

But your scorecard matters not. Jones was up by a couple of points before the knockdown. He lost by DQ

One judge had Griffin up by a point while the other two had RJJ up by a point and two points. So it was very close.

True. It was more Jones losing it than Montell winning. Great effort from Montell though.

Montell Griffin wasn't a great fighter but he was a very solid fighter that was very technical and a very difficult style to figure out. If he gave Jones a tuff fight in the first one, gave Toney nightmares up pretty sure he could give a good showing against Joe C, although I say Joe C comfortably but Griffin was no slouch

Montelly Griffin was a solid boxer no doubt the 2nd Toney fight was questionable but the 1st was a Griffin win.
