Why is there no rematch clause in the contract for the biggest fight of all time? Who potentially benefits the most from not having a rematch clause?? I want to know your thoughts and opinions.
So they can milk the rematch for another 5 years loooooool I heard if floyd loses there's a rematch clause but if manny loses no rematch Not sure how accurate that is
If one of them wins, giving a rematch would be ridiculous legacy-wise for the winner and it will bring far less money for the second fight. If it's a draw it'll be again best to leave it at that, again legacy-wise. A rematch can always be arranged when it's beneficial, forcing it with a clause is not necessary unless it's a champ giving a tune up fight to a journeyman.
Probably the money. Pacquiao will be in a far superior position to dictate terms if he wins the fight. He wouldn't settle for 60/40 again.
In the interview Pacquiao said he does't want rematch clause because he is confident about winning this fight. Manny said if mayweather wants rematch after may 2nd... Pacquiao will be the A-side on the negotiation.
Rafael reported it was so much work just to get it done, and a network exec told rafael they hated dealing with both sides. Still if it's close, a rematch will happen, or if manny wins.
Could be because Pacquiao wants to dictate terms for a rematch if he wins the first fight. He accepted all of Mayweather's demands so he might as well force Mayweather to accept his demands if he wants a rematch.
even before this fight was agreed to, floyd really didn't seem to want to fight pacquiao. to get floyd to fight him twice would be impossible and asking too much.
Let that sink in, nut hugging factions in either camp: The neutral third party involved with the negotiations thought both were huge pains in the ass. :yep
Floyd was forced to take this fight, remember? ofc there wont be a rematch getting the 1st match done is already one huge achievement for the boxing world, let's not get greedy here. Floyd has been practically dragged kicking and screaming to this fight, he wont go through that again, unless his fear of Pac finally dissapears
