bob Arum says Cotto will be fighting in March, June, and September- 3 times next time, putting a MARGIRITO PPV fight in June, thus leaving the march date open for a "top guy" he says..

why not CLOTTELY? he's been active, beating good fighters, in his prime, dangerous, and has already fought Baldomir, Corrales, Margarito, Richard Guiteriz, and a host of other very good welterweights..

this would be an all-action WAR!! would be a perfect fight for march..

"Without a De La Hoya or Mayweather fight, Arum wants to match Cotto with rugged contender Joshua Clottey, whom Arum also promotes, in March on HBO in either Atlantic City or Puerto Rico. HBO owes Cotto one more fight, too, under the terms of a mini-contract they did earlier this year. Clottey would have to get past Shamone Alvarez on Dec. 20. "

Arum is already way ahead of you.

"Arum said he would put Antonio Margarito on Cotto's March undercard and, if they both win, match them in June on HBO PPV at New York's Madison Square Garden on the eve of the annual Puerto Rican Day parade, a date Cotto has fought on the past three years. The New York fans got a look at Margarito last week on the Cotto-Mosley undercard as he dusted Golden Johnson in the first round. If you ask me, Cotto-Margarito is one of the best action fights that can be made in boxing."

The Bobfather is already on it.

The only option at this point for Cotto imo is Mayweather. Everything else is a step back. He already at this point has proven to be the second best welterweight in the world. Arum needs to do everything in his power to make this fight happen

Clottey is a very dangerous opponent.

If Cotto decides to fight Clottey and then fights Margarito, he is THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR.

He definitely makes Mayweather look like a ***** regarding competition.

NOBODY CAN ACCUSE COTTO OF CHERRY PICKING!

No he wouldn't. Clotty has a pretty good defense and chin. Not to mention he's a pretty dirty fighter. I like Cotto in this matchup, but I doubt he would beat the **** out of Clottey.

I don't like this fight for Cotto. He would make easy work out of him.

    How you figure?

Clottey is big as **** for a welterweight, has great defense, and fast hands.

Do you remember Cotto's fight with Urkal?

Urkal used a replica of Clottey's defense, was able to endure Cotto's bodyshots, and even had Cotto on the run at one point during the fight.

Urkal doesn't have power, speed, or size though. Clottey does.

    It could be interesting.

I think this is a very dangerous fight for cotto...

and freddy i see your point but i just dont like the fact that this fight would happen before the margarito fight.

regardless if it does happen.... i would not count out a clottey victory though id be rooting, and leaning towards... cotto.
