Why not have a weigh in IMMEDIATELY before stepping into the ring?

1 pound isn't as big as a deal as somebody out weighing somebody by 20 plus pounds because that is their natural weight.

Weigh should be at 12 noon day of fight. This would stop bull**** like Chavez jr refusing to be weighed prior to fight he must have come in ring at near 200 lbs against Vera. Even then referee deducted a bull**** point from Vera I guess that was just to make sure chavez won

I think day of fight limits should be set for each division. Like a 10 pound rehydration.

well then that further prompts fighters to not drain themselves.. they should penalize the fighters who dont make weight because if these rules are brought in you wont have guys rehydrating 20lb overnight... no one would push the limits to change classes majority of them would fight at there walk around weight like pac and floyd do.

it will also help the longevity of fighters. surely draining yourself takes a toll on the body

I think the point is clear, but unless we get wider weigh ranges (8 weight classes anyone?), fighters will be missing the weight all the time or jumping into the ring without the required calories to be at their best.

You don't want to put a fighter in a position where he doesn't eat all day because he realized that if he eats he'll be over weight.

It doesn't mean he didn't train hard enough or outgrew the division, it just means its harder to maintain a specific scale number while eating as much as needed before putting your life on the line.

The real problem is the extremity of weight gain because of dehydration. Fighters shouldn't dehydrate, but they should be allowed to control calorie intake before the weigh in and given the opportunity to fuel properly for the fight.
