Nice break that Chambers is out. Who the hell wants to see two gus that Wlad already beat go at it for the right to fight him again?

Yeah, Helenius, or someone with some new blood.

Good suggestion, maybe they could make it for Dec? Probably wouldn't happen cause its so risky though. Helenius didn't enter the tournament for a reason.

Also might be interesting if Arreola was brought in to replace Chambers. But again too risky--nobody wants to face Thompson including Chambers.

But both are great hypothetical match-ups.

Here are the current IBF rankings btw
    1 Eddie Chambers United States
    2 Tony Thompson United States
    3 Robert Helenius Germany
    4 Chris Arreola United States
    5 David Haye United Kingdom
6 Maurice Harris United States :huh
    7 Denis Boytsov Germany
    8 Alexander Dimitrenko Germany
    9 Kali Meehan Australia
    10 Jean Marc Mormeck France
    11 Jonathon Banks United States
    12 Alexander Ustinov Russian Federation
    13 Cedric Boswell United States
    14 Manuel Charr Germany :rofl
    15 Kubrat Pulev Bulgaria

So if they really needed a replacement opponent Helenius or Arreola would be the most suitable choices.

as much as i think helenuis is a gd idea as thompson is now at the age and stage of his carrer for helenuis to consider him..i dont think the big fin would risk it with him yet he isnt quite over the hill enough for him yet...arreolla would be a gd shout and would be a gd test for him..anyone out of the top ten for a replacement tho and id be disapointed (not shocked tho)

I'd like to see Thompson vs. Helenius and Chambers vs. Arreola as a double header.

The "contenders" like Dimitrenko, Helenius, Boytsov should step up and should take this fight against Thompson.

But i am sure, they will not.

I'd rather an unknown got the eliminator so we could gauge their level. Ustinov, Charr, and Pulev from the IBF's list, but I'd personally like to see Chauncey, el NINO, Mayhem, or Monsour get the fight. Either would take it, none are currently tied up, and all are decent wins for Thomspson should he prevail.

Chambers is out... wow. I was looking forward to that fight even though either of them fighting Wlad is pretty unappealing now.

Thompson fighting Helenius is a pretty good fight to be honest. I'd just hate to see another fighter I like on the end of that power

Helenius-Thompson would be a good fight and a very acceptable replacement fight. I'd favor Helenius but Thompson would be a very live underdog. Even though I'd like to see it don't think its a wise move for Helnius. If he wins then he has to face Wlad soon and probably isn't ready for that and would wind up in the same situation that Povetkin was in.

Guys like Chambers and Thompson need to win elimintors to get a shot at a Klitschko especially rematches. Despite being good figthers they aren't big draws. Helenius will get a shot at one of the brothers(preferably Vitali), with or without an eliminator/mandatory slot. Instead he can pick up another few wins against solid competiton so he improves while at the same time the brothers get older.

because Helenius wants none of that
IBF wanted him in the tournament and was willing to sanction Peter vs Helenius as an eliminator but Helenius was unwilling to receive the price for the winner named Wlad..
