Hopkins fought Pavlik a middleweight at a catchweight.

Why not Martinez vs Hopkins, its an interesting fight and one of the only ones out there for Martinez that could stand as a PPV fight and bring alot of interest

    Who likes this idea??

    :thumbsup

Martinez is too small, even for Hopkin's standards

NO, not for me anyways. Bernard is too big now, I'm not even sure he is going to beat Pascal, but if he does and becomes the oldest fighter to be a world champ, perfect time to hang them up.

Martinez is not looking to fight above 160lbs...
(That pretty much ends this thread)

Not crazy about it. If Hopkins beats Pascal, I want him to finally fight Dawson, or if he's not around, Bute. I also don't think the money is right for Martinez to move up, though I could easily envision HBO trying to force this match since they somehow came to the conclusion that a 46 year-old Hopkins should have a three fight contract.

He wants a big fight, he's not getting Pacquiao or Mayweather so who is there.

Rubio Chavez Jnr and Zbik hardly intriuging.

Pavlik was a BIG middleweight who still looked small against Hopkins when they fought at the catchweight.

Martinez is a small middleweight and might go down to 154.

    That's the difference.

Chavez probably gets him more money than Hopkins, and if Martinez moved up, Bute would probably be more lucrative also. Also, he's not getting Pacquiao or Mayweather this year, but moving up means he rules himself out entirely.

Chavez hasn't agreed to fight Martinez, Zbik has depending on who wins, Rubio is the mandatory but that isn't all that intriguing either. Not a lot of choices for Martinez right now. Out of the 3 above mentioned, I'd prefer to see him put a whippin' on Jr, but we know that ain't happening, the cottled Jr. doesn't want that fight.
