Well in a way, they all would have been contenders or low level at that, I think Holmes would have beating him any way. BUT Greb Page was the Harry Wills of his day, with less winnning though.

Well there is number 1 on the mortal realm, Marciano. Than there is number 1 on the God realm, Barney Ross.

 

Dempsey1238 must truly love Ross, as we have gone over it again and again, there is simply no way he rates above someone like Armstrong. It's kinda like me rating Whitaker #1 all time.

 

Which guys are you referring to, and at what weights?

 

Without giving it too much thought (to think of a comprehensive list), the guys who possibly starch Roy at 160 are Marvin Hagler, Carlos Monzon (and maybe, just maybe) Sam Langford and at 175 Foster, Charles, Moore, Spinks and Qawi.

Jones would probably box much better against the lightheavies there, but he's also vulnerable to getting sparked and so that's why I say Hopkins potentiall does better. Hopkins would probably go the distance with those light heavies albeit getting soundly beaten down in some instances. Jones competes better, but might get KO'ed as well.

 

I'd give Hagler and especially Monzon decent chances, but not enough to favor. At 175, I'd take Foster to do it. The rest are toss-ups, though I'd favor him highly over Moore and Qawi based on styles, which myself and McGrain have argued endlessly. I might pick Spinks to catch him at some point though.

 

I think I'd make Hagler, Monzon, Spinks, Foster and Charles favourites myself to take him out. But not big favourites.

Agree Qawi and Moore stylistically might struggle, but I expect them to put up better efforts than James Toney did, (assuming that's the stylistic parrallel you see thei fights emulating).
