Yea he was 37 and gave a much younger fighter a tough fight. Prime Briedis ran Usyk close and has beaten Charr, Glowacki and Dorticos. And yes, Dorticos is better than Spence. Unlike Spence, Dorticos actually has an iron chin, can actually punch hard. Plus he has actually has a long piston like jab and knows how to cut off the ring.

Look at how stiff, plodding and basic Briedis makes Spence look in comparison. Mind you this is a Cruiserweight looking more fluid than a Welterweight. Completely different class of fighter.

To be fair the Briedis fight literally took place in Riga (same advantage Huck, Głowacki, Gassiev, Bellew, and Hunter enjoyed) and he was fighting the most probable future undisputed champion, Usyk himself aside.

There was a thread about Chisora fight. Small ring, Usyk plagued with injuries both pre and during the fight (left hand injury, then the right). Not gonna argue about my personal view of the fight (comfortable win for Usyk) but there definitely were circumstances.

Curious to read the old threads in which Usyk was supposed to be a dead little man against the heavies. Similarly interesting how people got used to having a Holyfield reborn in the division. Granted, without the desire to fight as much and long as the Real Deal himself.

Not to mention a police officer. Extremely disciplined and composed man. Gave Jai Opetaia a Marciano-Walcott type of baptising in war before retiring.

It's all a moot point because Usyk won the fights anyways. Losing to Briedis is hardly shameful, but that's besides the point. Usyk won the fight anyways.

Usyk has had half the amount of fights and his only Great win is against Joshua. His other wins pale in comparison to Crawfords’s wins. Also how can you say Joshua is a better win than Spence? Spence is so clear of Joshua. The height difference ended up being an advantage for Usyk as Joshua couldn’t land on a small target so it wasn’t a disadvantage like people make out.

Briedis was good but he wasn't better than Spence.

The separation between these 3(Usyk, Bud and Inoue) is paper thin IMO. I had Usyk at #1 until Monster moved up a div and beat the consensus best in that div. Crawford has surpassed them both with that dominant performance over Spence.

He does almost everything better than Spence. He's faster, punches harder, has the better chin, quicker reflexes, better defense. He's a step above Spence.

Breidis has much better power and, chin, and better skills overall, and a better resume.

Spence was always overrated as showed. Breidis beat everyone at Cruiser apart from Usyk.. who he had a close fight with giving a great account of himself, whereas Spence got completely dominated in a one sided embarassing mismatch against the best fighter in his division Crawford. No one would have ever dominated Breidis like the way Crawford dominated Spence.
