Why on earth does anyone still consider Casamayor the champ 0f 135?

He beat the man who beat the man. Period.

I'm not saying he's the best, but he has the Lineal Title.

Casamayor is not and never has been the champ. Him and Diaz are joint top dogs. The division does not have a REAL champ until they fight.

A valid argument if you think that the lineal title makes someone the champ of the division. I have heard valid arguments that it is not. For example lineage can be broken. When mayweather moved up to 140 he vacated the lineal title so when Corrales got the W over Castillo he did not beat the man who beat the man.

There is really no perfect way to determine the champ of a division. some say it is the ring champ, some say you have you unify belts, some say it's the lineal champ. The champ IMO should meet at least one of those criterias and be the best guy in his division.

Corrales and Castillo were the consensus #1 and #2 at lightweight. If that doesn't established a lineal champion, then what does?

Regardless of who you think should be recognized as champ, calling a warrior like Casa a "fraud" and "trash" makes it look like you are arguing your point with bias and emotion rather than logic.

There are points that can be made on both sides, but you have to be consistent with you arguments. If you consider the Ring belt legit in other cases, why dismiss it now just because you like Diaz more than Casa?

I think most people agree on that, they just feel that Casa is still the champ because he has not lost in the ring. I don't think that he ever earned the right to be called champ to begin with, and even if I did, I disagree with the idea that a fighter can just hold on to a belt fighting once a year against guys with 14-2-2 records who aren't even ranked top 20 and still be able to call himself champion

Exactly. Jeez, you'd think boxing fans would understand this. To be "the man," you have to BEAT "the man" - in the RING, where it counts.:yep
