So Vic signs the fight two days into contract negotiations and Donaire has still not signed 6 weeks later? Why? Did Vic land ANYTHING that would make Donaire think twice in that first fight - Cause its been a while since I watched it - I really can't see why Donaire is dodging Vic at all - So he can fight mandatories? Whats the go? Sauce
He has more to lose. If Vic loses, well, he's already lost to him. He's getting up in years, had a full career, has more accomplishments to stand on. If Donaire loses to a guy he totally dominated, who is his only standout name victory then he looks like a fluke success story, which he isn't (very talented kid). I don't know. I don't think Vic did anything to him in the fight to speak of (that I remember) but he does have more to lose, I think.
Donaire's career post-Darchinyan has been such a joke. He's not on the Bika level of horrible just yet, but he's not all that far. It's such a shame that the Ring #4 (!) P4P fighter is taking long breaks between fights and headlining Pinoy Power PPVs against mostly irrelevant opponents.
I think Donaire wants to fight Vic but Bob at Top Rank is calling the shots and wants to follow through with his master plan of only ever matching up Top Rank fighters. This is a real pity! This fight had real potential and it is something plenty of fans have been calling for! Another classic case of the fans getting it in the ass!
there are 2 refutable sources Vic's team said they signed a contract to fight Donaire and Donaire said they signed a contract to fight Davrchinyan somone is lying or someone signed a false contract
Maybe neither. Maybe they're talking about signing an early draft of the contract. Or maybe everybody is so conniving in both camps that not even the fighters know what the hell is going on or who's holding what up. I know I trust Shaw about as much as I trust a talking herpes sore.
Arum is no angel either, but i dont see why he would try to sway this fight away when it makes the most money, Donaire wants it bad, and Donaire would be the considerable favorite.
Arum said that it was already on. Shaw is said to have pushed out because of international TV profits conflict. Who knows who's lying and who's saying the truth?
Arum, Shaw, any of them. I have long since stopped even trying to guess what convoluted reasons they may have for doing or saying anything and just assume it's as likely to be bull**** as not.
Vic isn't happy with the money split from what I've been told. I don't remember the exact numbers, but Arum wants something like a 65-35 or 70-30 split for Donaire.
