Yea right there was not much promotion. 1 of the 3 times I actually heard of the fight was when they actually agreed to a re-match. That was back then after Taylor first loss to Pavlik.
i'm betting the PPV buys for this fight won't be that good. neither guy is a PPV type fighter, plus with no title at stake.......this should've been on HBO, not PPV.
The buys don't get released until usually midweek and since Arum is involved, he's formed some agreeement with HBO to not release the buys #'s publicly(He was pissed that the Judah vs. Cotto only did 200K and those were released). Since Judah and Cotto did that, I doubt this exceeds 200K buys. They said (and this is something I don't quite understand fully)all the HBO FREE dates were gone, hence why this had to be a PPV. Alson hence why Judah vs. Mosley will be PPV also. I'm guessing HBO has a schedule of boxing dates and they've already allocated those dates to other shows...
cause it was in vegas..... people wise, they should've had it on the eastcoast...but money wise, NOBODY CAN COMPETE WITH THE CASINOS MONEY
Pavlik is a big draw on the East Coast and Taylor isn't a big star in Vegas. They should have had this in Atlantic City, Cleveland, or Memphis.
The promoters chose L.V. because this way they could earn more money. Any other location - near one of the fighter's backyard - would've packed a stadium of 25.000 but they decided to rip off some money as the first fight was on free HBO and the tickets weren't so expensive. So even if it wasn't promoted the show very well, fewer people bought a ticket and because of the PPV LESS people was able to watch it, Arum and DiBella made more money at the and of the day. If it's 100.000 buys, than it's $5M more. If it's gonna be around 250.000 (my prediction) they'll earn $12,5M more. It's that simple... L.V. + PPV = ripoff.
