. if pac beats floyd- the sport will be in great hands- if floyd wins- then we have more of his bitching braggin and moaning with no fighting- to put up with for another 2 - 3 years with 1 fight a year against guys like luiz collazo- and paulie malinaggi. Pac wins? you KNOW he ll fight guys like Shane, Wiliams, Berto. He respects the sport just as the sport has made him. floyd is a great fighter- but he dosent treat the game with respect- as though he owes something to it. he acts as though it owes him something.

pac gives back to the sport by fighting with integrity- treating other fighters with respect, and fighting the fights that people want. thats a champion right there. floyd may prove to be a better boxer- but to me- pac is what a champion is really about- and a champion isnt defined by wins and losses, belts or money. people still address ali, kostya, frazier- as champ - wherever they go- years after they fought or lost. because theyre champion people too.

comparing them is like comparing a classical pianist who is technically perfect- plays every note pitch perfect and in time- yet wont stray from the beat- the timbre- or the tone. he wont take risks. Manny is the jazz musician- ready to riff and improvise- make something sound new at the risk of it sounding off- but able to pull it off confidently nonetheless. he takes chances not with his piano- but with his life- giving us new dimensions to a sport which - although only has two weapons- two notes- he has proven - he can play an symphonic aria with.

a boxer is an athlete that can sometimes embody the best of us. the bravery- the dedication - the commitment and honesty to a craft. they do things we all wish we could do - step into the ring without fear and fight . we all deep down wish we could do what they do. Pac does it the way i think most of us would like to do it- with class, respect, joy and likeablity. Floyd is probably the most techincally amazing boxer ive ever seen - but outside of the ring- and thru his choices- to me- he just dosent capture my imagination- or touch my soul. When manny fights- women cry , grown men shake in anticipation as he walks in, we all believe we can beat the odds- cos he can, we all hope and dream thru a small phillipino man. - now thats an inspiration- thats a hero, and a champion.

Boxing and Casual fans have 2 choices

Manny Pacquiao - Religious, Humble, Exciting fighter that engages, Infectious smile, people's champ

Floyd Mayweather - Dollar/Money, Arrogant, High Ego, Confident/Proud

Who do you like to represent the Sport of Boxing

    Pick one

    Great Post.

I loved it when he was egging Cotto to fight banging his gloves.. Lets go lets fight!

A fight he was dominating...he just loves it man, he loves giving back every penny of the $54.95 we shelled out

Mannys a legend. Hes a FIGHTER to the ****ing bone!

  4. Eh I dont think it really matters. The main thing I hope for is that its a good fight. If millions of people tune in to see the megafight, and Floyd beats PAC the same way he beat DLH, that will be bad for the sport. Hopefully Floyd mans up like he did against Hatton and gives everybody something to watch.

    I agree.

Pac is the one people will connect with.

Floyd just isn't in his stratosphere of class when it comes to public appeal.

Most people here want to believe that Manny winning is better for the sport. They want to see someone knock Mayweather off his high horse. It's not going to happen though. And when Floyd wins, you can rest assured that they will hype another fighter as the next guy that supposedly has an answer to the Mayweather riddle. This of course will result in another superfight.

Pacquiao will be retiring after one more fight. And it's spelt Filipino.

    :good Good post.

Yeah, i can't stand that ***** either.

  9. I doubt it. People will hope that Mayweather fights the elites in the divisions he pretends he's king of always, thats just fair. But I doubt people will get as excited about other fights as they are with pacquio V floyd. PAC is a once in a generation fighter, Floyd is the best fighter of recent history, of course people want it. If Floyd wins he'll be cemented as one of the very best ever.

    Care to make some points?

That Pac was better? The same thing that would be true if Mayweather wins. Unfortunately Pac is certainly more likely to get more credit for the win than Mayweather because, as mentioned, he has a pleasing public persona and May does not.

Because Manny is retiring in one or two more fights so him winning does ****all for the sport when he disappears. And really, since when does being likeable count for much in boxing? Not that Mayweather is anything like Tyson as a fighter, but how likeable was Tyson?

Great fights are the best thing for boxing, regardless of who wins or loses or which fighter is the more pleasant guy to have a cup of tea with. And if Floyd fights Pac and wins it's hard to accuse him of not fighting the best.

I prefer skill in the ring over silly **** like personality (do you know the muther****er personally) outside of it.

Floyd has more skill then Pac, and has brought far more attention to boxing because of his mouth then anyone since Oscar.

I could care less if Pacquiao believes in a fairy tale sky genie or if he has a nice smile.
