First off we dont know if Manny is retiring for good, Floyd said he was retired and came back in less than 2 years/

People liked Tyson because of the way he performed in the ring, he was exciting, and relentless, something Floyd is neither of.

Everyone in boxing can count on Pacman to fight the best fights if he wins, we been waiting for it from Mayweather ever since he moved up from 135.

Wait, are you saying that Pac was hyped into a position where people think he's a legit threat to Mayweather? No man, Pac earned his position right now. If Mayweather wins it's because he's better and not because Pac is some hype job created to fool people into thinking that he can actually beat Mayweather. That's just disrespectful to a fighter who didn't take any shortcuts to the top.

To those that know boxing and enjoy technicality and defensive prowess, Floyd is very exciting. To those that watch kimbo slice fights on youtube, boxing probably isnt your thing anyway.

You can rant about you aint a boxing fan if you dont appreciate the sweet science junk but the matter of the fact is the sweet science isnt going to be attracting more fans to the sport. So i have yet to see a convincing arguement how Floyd winning is better for the sport.

YEah Floyds not attracting fans to the sport. Thats why he's done 3 million buys in his last 3 fights and after Pac beat Cotto the only thing people were talking about was floyd.

What makes boxing great is the converse styles, personalities, ect.

    Stupido.

I get the impression that Manny is quite serious about retiring. Everyone knew Floyd would be back for more money, for more recognition, but Manny has other aspirations, he is financially secure, and he has absolutely nothing left to prove in the ring.

But really, Pac hasn't caused a stir because he's such a classy dude, it's because he's percieved as a little guy doing the impossible. But there's only so much play in that angle. He doesn't have the frame to keep moving up in weight, so he's going to have to settle somewhere and his accomplishments AFTER a fight with Floyd are always going to be overshadowed by what he's done up until this point. Quite possibly Pacquiao is peaking, in a career sense, right now.

Floyd at least has the option of doing more. Going for a couple more belts at higher weight classes and chase his legacy. Not saying that he will, but he can. For Pac, where does he even go after Mayweather that generates anything like the interest of that fight?

Like I said, Manny is a cool little dude and fun as **** to watch, but neither he nor Floyd is going to save boxing. For boxing to continue in popularity great fighters need to fight great fighters often. Superstars like Pac or Floyd just create a vaccuum when they leave, unfortunately.

In all honesty I think the Super Six tournament is more important than either Pac or Floyd for boxing because it is a template for the way things should be done in the sport all the time.

Pac done over 3 millions buys too in his last 3 fights, so what.

and you prolly need to get out of your house more if you think people are talking more about floyd than Pacquiao.

I agree if Pac wins the sport will benifit. He has to win though, not just get the nodge in a close fight because he's the most popular of the two...

Okay, how bout because Floyd has been putting asses in the seats longer? Pac only started to gain real popularity after he started fighting Floyd's leftovers. Without Floyd Pac/Cotto doesn't do 600k buys. No shame in that, youv'e gotta have two people to create a great rivalry, and certainly Floyd's comeback is also much less appealing without Pac being out there doing what he's doing.

They need each other. But Floyd can potentially go on to bigger things (literally and figuratively) after the fight with Pac. Where does Pac go from there?

Actually Floyd did 4 million. 2 mil against Oscar. About a mil against Hatton and a mil against Marquez. Floyds done atleast 1 million more then Pacquiao. Even though Pacquiao had 2 common opponents and a much more popular fighter then Marquez in Cotto.

Why is that if Pacs more popular?

:rofl Sorry, unlike you, I have cable access where im at, and unlike you, I know more then 5 people, and Floyd Mayweather name is brought up every time Pac is mentioned. Floyd has been a household name in the USA for about 5 years now. PAcquiao didnt become a household name till he fought Hatton.

We all know the reason both Pac and Floyd became real draws is because they both beat the biggest cash cow in boxing - Oscar de la Hoya. Without Oscar, neither of them would be as big as they are now.

I agree that if Pac beats Floyd, he has nowhere to go, mainly because he's done all that we could ever ask from him and then some. Whereas with Floyd, there's this sense that despite his successes in the lower weights, Floyd remains a sea of untapped potential, he can do so much more and we still haven't seen him do it. Everyone is waiting for him to up the ante and back up all that talk with action. I'm optimistic and I hope the waiting won't be in vain.

If Pacquiao beat Floyd...words cannot describe how high his popularity and credibility will soar.

Never said it was all Floyd. But do you think Pacquiao does 1 mil fighting Marquez in Julio Cesar Chavez leaving room? I dont.
