Why Pacquiao-Campbell is the best fight out there

The point is, people are looking left and right for an opponent (including the silliness of Manny fighting ODLH) for Manny Pacquaio, but the best one just came out saying that he will cancel a fight with Guzman to fight Manny. IMHO this is the best fight to be made for three reasons:

    1) History and Legacy
If Manny wins, he would have become the only Filipino fighter to unify ANY division. No Filipino has ever done that, and with Manny Pacquaio currently the first Filipino to win a belt in the Lightweight Division, an achievement like this would be insurmountable in years to come.

On the other hand, if Nate Campbell wins, he also unifies the division which is an achievement that is harder to do in this age with the tonnage of belts nowadays. It also gives Nate the honor of being the one to defeat the number 1 pfp.

This fight should happen, as you know opportunities like this slip by like a snake in wet grass. Sooner or later a sanctioning body will make a bull**** mandatory and one of these guys has to lose a belt. This also sets up a fight with the whinner of JMM/Casamayor for the UNDISPUTED title in the LW division. Had Pac fought anyone else like Soto or Valero, he wouldn't have this oppurtinity as his plate is already full.

Another point I should make is that, history rarely happens nowadays in boxing. But ten-twenty years from now, and people would be looking at this fight as one of the best ever.

    2) Relevance
IMHO a fight with De la Hoya gives Manny Pacquaio nothing except money, and imho, money shouldn't make fights. The simple logic is that, as of now, even with ODLH as a name brand in boxing, this fight is irrelevant. This does not increase Manny's standing as a PFP fighter if he wins it as other fighters have done it and didn't gain an ounce of popularity (ehem FMJ), and if he loses (and probably will) he just got beat by an old man.

On the other hand, a tiff with Campbell gives Manny a modicum of respect. He didn't leave the LW division hanging and fought the MAN at that weight. Afaik, DLH is not the MAN in any division.

Over Soto and Valero however, the one thing that Campbell has is that he's an American. And an American that fans like. If this fight ever happens, this will attract a whole other spectrum to Manny PAcquiao's and Nate Cambell's respective fanbases.

    3) Excitement
Let's face it. This fight is going to be exciting. True, not as exciting as a Valero/Pac tiff but the prospect of a fight where the victor truly isn't clear from the start just gets my juices going.

Valero is just so untested that when Manny wins, people will say that Valero was just a tomato can basher, while if Valero wins, Manny just got knocked out by an unknown.

In conlusion, these three are the primary reasons a Pac-Campbell tiff should happen. Let's wait and see if Arum makes the right move.

    PS
    Pac KO8 Campbell

Hmmmmm, I agree this is a great fight, but i'm not sure Campbell should cancel a Guzman fight in order to make it happen.

To me, a Guzman - Pac fight is even more intriguing. Either way, this is a great chance for all 4 LW belts to get unified, that needs to happen.

Campbell is nothing compare to DLH. Campbell's best win is against Diaz. DLH has Chavez, Camacho, Vargas etc in his resume. DLH's loses was against P4P fighters. Campbell losses was against Nobodys like Peden, Hlatswayo & The guy Soto demolished. DLH's a much bigger Challenge than Campbell.

DLH also beat Trinidad, but that's another story.

First off, you can also argue that Pacquaio lost against nobodys, like Rustico Toreacampo (shame, I used to buy food from his jollijeep), so to say something like that is just plain silly.

Another thing is that, while DLH is a bigger name, that's all he is. We can't criticize Pac for fighting De La Hoya but we can criticize Calzhage for fighting Roy Jones Jr? That's a double standard imho.

Campbell is a much better fight legacy wise as he is a fighter on the top of his campaign.

Why fight Oscar though at welterweight when he hasn't tested himself at 140yet. Yes I give pac that he his fearless or has he been listening to freddie roach really saying that he can knockout a light middleweight in Oscar.

Pac loss was eons ago. Campbell's loses was recent and still very fresh in my memory. I even have almost all of them on DVD.

Imagine after Pac dominates Campbell??? What will the critics going to say??? What will Pac proves there??? They can just Brought up Campbell's recent KO loses and all Credits for Pac will be gone. Campbell is not an elite fighter, He's not a Legend, He's just Lucky to beat Diaz. If Campbell was there in his position where he depended that Unified titles for years, then it's a different story. Wait till Campbell Beat Guzman and Casa/JMM, by then he is worthy challenge. I don't even think he can beat one of those guys.

Now imagine Pac beating DLH or if the unthinkable Happen where Pac KO DLH??? What do you think Historians will say about Pac??? Another Legend in his resume, that's better than just another title.

What do you think the betting odds for Pac-Campbell and Pac-DLH??? Pac will be tha Fav over Campbell big time, maybe 3:1. while DLH will be the Fav over Pac because of his size. therefore DLH fight is the better Challenge and the better fight for Pac.

I actually want to see pac fight, CAMPBELL, HATTON and ODLH (no matter what the odds are 1:8 chances of pac winning?!). Why can't this fight all happen? Your thoughts PacDBest?!

Because Nate is not available right now. DLH's available and he's fighting for the last time. Pac fighting Campbell now will only make around $5M for Pac. Pac fighting DLH will make him $20M. Then if Campbell is still there standing after the DLH & Hatton fight, then maybe Pac-Campbell can be made and I'm sure Pac will not be making only $5M by then. But i doubt it. By that Time Campbell will be out and guess who will come out on top of the 135 division?? I sure it will be JMM. Then it will Pac-JMM again for a Much much bigger fight.

So true. If Guzman beats Campbell, and JMM beats Casamayor, Pac-Guzman-JMM should fight each other.

Agreed.. I've been salivating over this fight ever since Pac mentioned moving up to 135lbs.. Pacquiao vs Hatton or DLH may seem like a bigger fight because of the names, but Pac vs Campbell would be the biggest fight legacy wise.. As you mentioned, Pac would have the chance to unify the lightweight division and vastly improve his ATG status.. Pac is in very good position to cement his legacy, but it looks like Arum wants the money fights and Roach keeps mentioning DLH's name over and over.. I wouldn't mind seeing a Pac vs Hatton fight, but Nate Campbell is the man I want to see him fight.. Campbell has earned a lot of my respect and he is a hell of a fighter as well as this would be one hell of a fight.. I don't really care about the money or big name fights, but the legacy fights.. Just thinking of them two in the ring together should make any boxing fan's mouth water..

The Pac/DLH fight isn't official yet.. DLH is still waiting to see the Cotto/Margo fight which there is still a very big possibility of a Cotto/DLH fight..

Either way Pac goes, I wish him the best of luck and hope he pulls through each adversity he faces..
