Perhaps you have not put a lot of research into such a bold statement. The list of [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_undisputed_boxing_champions"]unified champions[/ame] is not very big. Granted the list of multi-weight champions is quite small but the championship at 154 is questionable. Margarito was not ranked in the 154 weight-class and Pacquiao never fought in that weight-class and yet they fought for a title. Neither fighter ever faced a contender or a champion in the weight-class. There is no question about a champion when he beats all contenders and holds all the belts. Thus his championship status is undisputed. It removes any doubt. Doing this solidifies beyond a doubt where as capturing wins arcoss the weights leaves doubt.

Again don't read ssomething into this that isn't there. I am merely pointing out here that the premise of thread is flawed.

There is no disputing Pacquiao is truely an ATG. If he were to retire today, he would reside in the top 20 on many lists, while some would put him lower in the top 50 and then others would put him in the top 5. The question to be answered is where on the ATG list will he take his place.

While I agree with you that he is the greatest of all time. Larios and Hatton are not hall of famers. Larios was good fighter. Hatton may get in eventually off of 1 good win. But he packed it in after his first loss to Mayweather. Margarito was a excellent welterweight but the loaded gloves controversy will eliminate him from any discussion of hall of fame.

This logic is as flawed as the opening post.

    Pac is not the GOAT.

He's the best we've got in this generation and that should be enough for most people, but apprently he has to be the GOAT or you're somehow labeled a hater.

He's not a perfect fighter, but god damn he's a great one.

    That should be enough.

Where he fits into a sport with over a century worth of history is entirley subjective, but WHY does he have to be the GOAT? It doesn't detract from his career - But its simply not important.

Pac doesn't go around saying he's the best, he says he's happy with his career - As bitter a pill as that is for some to swallow, that's all we should be as well.
